Ok, am pretty taken with the GSXR600, K6, pictured below:

And, all going well will pop into Sportzone tomorrow and order one, (in black :niceone: ).

So, before I sign away a bit of $$$ I'd really like to hear what you folks have to say about them. Owners, of K6's or earlier models, if you don't own one but have read/heard something, come one come all, I'd love to hear from you.

Cheers, Aaron.

They are getting very good reviews and they all agree the handling is sharp as an arrow.
Check out this link, click Suzuki and the read the three reviews on the 600.

IV AN 750XK5 AND THINK ITS ONE OF THE BEST BIKES IVE EVER HAD , PREFUR MINE OVER THE HAYABUSA IVE GOT WITH A HANDFULL OF GO FAST BITS ON ITS ., IT FAR MORE RIDEABLE , ON THE AKORA GP ON SUNDAYS , ,ID TAKE A RIDE DOWN TO ASHBURTON AND TALK TO JEFF MARSHAL M/C AS WELL AND PLAY THEM OFF EACH OTHER , MIGHT GET A BETTER TRADE ,
AS SPORTZONE ALWAYS FINDS THINGS TO NITPICK ABOUT AND WILL OFFER YOU FU*K ALL , ID GET A 750 BUT SUZUKI NZ IS NOT IMPORTING THEM AS IVE HEARD , COS THE DEAM THE 750 MARKET DEAD IN NZ , COULD BE WRONG ??? BUT ID LOOK AT GETTING ONE OUT OVE OZE AS AT LEAST YOU WOULD HAVE A BIKE NOT EVERONE HAS ,
MINE HOLDS ITS OWN WITH THE 3 GSXR1000 & 2 BUSA I RIDE WITH AND EATS THE 999 , YOU JUST DONT HAVE THE LOW DOWN GRUNT , YOU NEED TO RING ITS NECK ALOT , GOES LIKE FU*K OVER 8-14000RPM :hitcher:

Thanks for the feedback guys, pretty positive stuff.

Excellent review site, cheers beyond wasn't aware of its existence. Three very good reviews IMO.

Yeah OrangeBack, what you say is consistent with the reviews, but it doesn't phase me. I cannot afford the 750, and as you say, there are none coming in this year unless pre ordered or I wait till September for the '07 models, but they'll be another $4-5k.

My only concern is that there are quite a few modifications to the bike over earlier models. Enough for some reviewers to say it's been totally redesigned, and I guess when it's got a new engine, exhaust, and various other odds and sods that's true.

Well I've seen or heard nothing tonight to dissuade me from the bike, so fingers crossed I could be upgrading in a few weeks :)

Why is it a concern??? It's a good thing i say, the old bike was good, the new bike is simply stunning, i want one, but the 750, unbless they bring the K7 1000 out looking like that, then i'll get the 1000cc.

Go for it, buy the bike, and then let me ride it :yeah: actully best not too i might not come back.

Got my name and some $$$ down on one of two black K6's coming in over the next couple of weeks.

Now... just need to organise that full licence

(Am in a foul mood after standing in line at the AA centre for 40 minutes with nothing to show for it. Gotta go back and book tomorrow :angry2: )

From experience... Make sure you get the licence before you ride it... otherwise you might be riding it again later....11 months down the track.... $10000 down the track....

Good onya though :niceone: I hope to be on one at the end of the year as well :niceone:

That is NOT an appealing though, (the licence), it is good to see there are others interested in the bike too :)

Full licence is a piece of piss... Things ive heard about the K6, better brakes than the K5 (which has awesome brakes) about 108-109hp at the back wheel... Stock suspension is a bit soft (just like the K4 and K5) but is great for the road.... Lower seat than the K5 (about 25mm lower)...

Personally after sitting on one, i would chuck on some after market rearsets, even though you can adjust the stock ones, im used to a more aggressive riding style... The stock pipe is supposed to sound awesome as well..

Yeah, I'd look like a right noob if I fail the full licence test. (Probably tempted fate now by saying that  )

Re the dimensions, the following is taken from this review (http://www.mcnews.com.au/Testing/Suzuki/2006_gsx-r600/page1.htm):

"Thanks to the narrower powerplant, Suzuki have also been able to trim fat off the machines girth for a slimmer feel with the frame width reduced by a significant 35mm over the previous model. The shorter fuel tank and redesigned seat give the rider a hip to bar measurement a noticeable 30mm shorter than before. Making the slim perch an even more attractive prospect is a 15mm lower seat height and new foot pegs that can be moved both vertically and horizontally through a 14mm plane, further enhancing rider comfort. I never saw reason to adjust a thing and could tuck in behind the screen of the new GSX-R600 perfectly with never a hint of wind buffeting around the helmet, even at over 250kph down Phillip Island’s main straight. In fact, I found the tuck position while in attack mode just about perfect for my 180cm frame."

I was getting a feel for how big it is in the shop, and as they didn't have one, was sitting on a K4/5? 1000R. And the 600 has, 5mm lower seat, 10mm longer, 5mm wider, overall 5mm? less height. So I got a (I'm pretty sure) good feel for the dimensions, and they felt good.

It will be a change coming from the GSX 2fiddy though, it's a bit of a tank. Just trying to find dimensions to compare both bikes, but not much on the 250 around.

If you're after a clue as to what it sounds like, here's a link to a pretty good vid. The quality is a bit naff and on one PC I viewed it on the sound was totally shot, but...

http://www.dailymotion.com/tag/++600/video/73106

(Don't know how bit it is, but probably in the region of 10mb)

[GSX250 Invader '04]
Fuel Tank: 18.0 (including 4.5 reserve)
Overall Length: 2085
Overall Width: 710
Overall Height: 1175
Wheelbase: 1410
Ground Clearance: 135
Seat Height: ?
Dry Weight: 169

[GSXR K4 600]
Fuel Tank:
Overall Length: 2,075
Overall Width: 715
Overall Height: 1,135
Wheelbase: 1,390
Ground Clearance: 128
Seat Height: 825
Dry Weight: 161kg

[GSXR K6 600]
Fuel Tank: 16.5L
Overall Length: 2,040
Overall Width: 715
Overall Height: 1,125
Wheelbase: 1,400
Ground Clearance: 130
Seat Height: 810
Dry Weight: 161kg

Comparing the 250 vs 600 I'm surprised by the real lack of difference in measurements. But I guess the two that make the biggest difference are only out by 45 and 50, (lenght and height) respectively.

Couldn't find the K5 stats, but there isn't a great deal of difference between the K4 and K6. Guess it comes down to longer wheelbase and lower seat height.

There is a big difference is how the engine is placed and also feedback from the exhaust etc but of course im no mechanic so will not know!

shrug thats only 250 over top of the 04-05 which is piss all, but the problem is when you compare it to the 636 which is 15,500(last time i looked)

I have just read a very positive track-based review of both the 600 and the 750 in the April "Two Wheels" mag.

Nice looking bikes too!!!

I am also seriously considering the K6 750. There is nothing wrong with my blade but it's always good to keep up with the latest technology. The only thing is Suzuki NZ wants too much for the 750 since they are selling 1000 for $20K.

was thinking about the K6 750, although a K6 600 would do as well.

The triumph 675 and new R6 came out best on the track but the 600 gixxer comes out best for road riding, adjustable foot pegs mean it will fit all size rider. I have to give it a test ride.

I really want to see the new GSXR 750 and triumph 675 in a side by side comparison test,

that would be interesting

I must say, the GSXR tacho with the gear display has got to be the nicest in the business right now. Worth getting one just for that alone.

Now, what I'd really like is a wristwatch with the R1 digits on it - slick. How about that?
