Ok, to co-incide with the chicks only ride this same day we're gonna have a ride for the guys
The plan is this: Meet at 10am for a 10.30 departure from Clevedon gasser (shell I think), head south to kaiaua then head back towards the castle, turn left on to the miranda rd then turn right to maramarua , on to Kopuku then I'll get us all lost down the back way to ngaruawhahia, fuel up and head back via 22 till pukekawa then down to mercer, across to the castle, then thru the hunua's to clevedon again, then time dependant either round maraetai to whitford or straight thru from clevedon, then off to hell via howick to meet up with the girls at around 3.... hopefully. Should be fun. See ya's there. Prolly won't happen if it's pissing down either.....
Rules;

It'll be my first KB ride on the Bandit. Hopefully the brakes will have bedded in by then.
[edit: duh, got confused about the date. it possibly won't be my first kb ride on the bandit and my brakes should be well and truly bedded in...]

We'll be taking that road too :niceone:
Went for a trial run with rodders yesterday through the kopuku to ngaruawahia bit and I think I got it sussed, he showed me a couple of good bits we can use, it's a mixture of some nice windy stuff and a few longish straight bits, come out at taupiri so we'll hafta cruise 1 from there down to ngaruawahia.
I'll need a tail-end charlie for this one and prolly hafta have someone wait at each turnoff through this section. Either that or everyone can wait for the following rider so they all know where to turnoff. It's a bit short between turnoffs to be able to get back past you lot if I wait.....
You can enroll here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=807&day=2006-4-23&) if ya want

Now that you don't even have to answer to anyone when you go home, I can only imagine how much harder you'll be pushing!
As for the ride, I don't have a road going bike currently as my R6 is still in race format. Oh well... Next time it is then.

I only lasted till mercer going back on SH1, then I had to turn off and take some more interesting roads!
GIXser, I've been a KB member for 2 years and regularly go on rides and I'm almost always meeting new people on them. KB is a large group.

I'll organise the same ride again another time in the not too distant future....:ride:

Thanks for the invite on the 'blokes only ride' Death. Was good to see that four of the girls turned up!
I found it challenging being two-up in the wet and given that I ride like a nana in the wet by myself it was even more interesting two-up! Cibby was a great pillion though and I rarely noticed she was there aside from the slightly different bike handling characteristics.
Highlight 1: watching the yellow VFR get stuck trying to do a U-turn when we missed a turn and needing a pull!
Highlight 2: getting perfect lines through the twistys just out of Kawakawa Bay two-up.
Until the next one! :niceone:

23rd April 2006, 20:20
fook, not a bad ride, all things considered..
the amount of slides thru corners tho, might as well be a drift competition!
I had the front lockup big time on a left hander that was pure tar and not stone. Really thought it was all over, get the salt and pepper - I'm about to eat asphalt. Then I let the front brake go, and the wheel gripped whilst the back tried to buck me off, and then, there was the end of the corner!! The bike settled, I landed on the tank, and smacked it so hard, I swear I know what my balls taste like. So, a brief stop to find them, and I was back on me way.
I was following Postie at the time, and he hadn't seen my antics so thought the worst. He stopped and turned around to check out what was happening, but I had already started going again. We passed, and I pulled over to explain what happened. Then we took off to catch up to the rest. All was going well for a few more minutes until for whatever reason (Postie will probably posty) the corner was not made. Seeing my bro dive off into the rough again and the bike go down and legs go up, a colourful array of language came out. I pulled hard on the brakes (dry this time!) and saw gravel on the left of the road, so I pulled into that - but it tricked me! The gravel stopped and the thick mud started, and I couldn't avoid it. So the bike dissapeared and went for a slide in the mud. Thankfully, most of it is mud. Few new scratches, but I'll give it a wash tomorrow and have a proper look. No big damage but the gear shift has an extra clunk to it now. I'm sure that'll go.
Anyway, so an ambo was called and eventually came (not bad considering we were in the arse end of nowhere) and picked postie up. Cibby chick rode his bike back, follwed by Keystone, and myself to Middlemore. Keystone took off just before we got there. We waited for ages in the ER before he was seen. I've just got a text that it's a fractured collarbone. Not too bad then. He's on his way home now, so I guess he'll fill in the rest when he gets online later.
Thanks Death for arranging the ride, thanks Keystone for looking after him and coming along, and nice to catch up with the regulars and some new faces ;)

23rd April 2006, 21:39
howdy folks.
twas a good ride today, mostly. I was quite enjoying the wet roads, they were slippy but it gives you more to think about.
Anyway i fucked up a corner, i was riding fine, enjoying, having a look around, lost concentration for a split second and found my self half way round a stupidly easy corner, bit the brakes hard but unfortuntaly for me, my right fork seal is toast and the bike nose dived under hard breaking, i should have pulled it through though, i saw a nice large gravel run off so took advantage and thought there would be enough to stop but changed my mind once i saw the drop off into a river at the end of the gravel pad, at which point i decided this is my stop and pulled thr front brake, dropped the bike under and supemaned into broken collar bonedom.
Thanks all who stopped to prod me, sling me, sit with me and laugh with me.
The bike is sweet, just a few scrapes which can be sorted no worries.
The paramedics were awesome.
anyway, got away lucky. Will be back out as soon as my should works properly.

Thanks to some good spotting by Pete(?) and Zaph's tools I tightened my chain up a fair bit. Was a good ride, and I'd lov to do it again in the dry, thanks Andy.

UMMMMMMMMM I think that they mean NO riding until it is healed.
If in doubt go back and ask the dr to tell you WHEN you are allowed to ride again after this injury... cos he/she will give you a time limit.
Are you likely to be needing physio as well?
Not worried past injuries (leg), cos we know what they would say about that one.

Thanks Death for organising a great ride. Was good to get out and see some new roads and met some more KB's. Paul and I both had a blast even in the wet.
Note to self: When sign reads "Uneven Road Surface", don't just assume its just that little pot hole you cleverly avoided. Lets just say I was glad to be a girl after hitting a rather large bump further on  (may have been the one that got Buggie!).
Glad to hear your injuries weren't too serious Postie and I'ms sure you are making the most of some top class nursing from Cibby.
