Back protectors

I bought one after a few track days (Hinged R-jays with locking plates; at $125 its pretty affordable) but I don't see many other riders wearing them. Who else uses them and if you have one, how often?? (mines only for track or day fanging)

Yeah i got a Clover one, don't know what it's specs are but it is fairly comfortable and fits well. Only wear it when i wear my full leathers, which is only when i go for a decent ride. Not commuting to uni, probably should, but don't have anywhere to put it.

I'd like to say I wouldnt ride without one but the truth is I only wear mine on a big ride or on the track.
I have two of them 1 is basicly the same as spank me's one the other is
a composite material it varies in hardness from soft to hard
the idea is that the leather doesn't have any ridges to get caught on so doesnt get ground away on the road.--both have been um--
Product evaluated in real world conditions and both did their job well

I use a 'Spyke Titanium', 9 links in total, goes from the base of my neck to the crack of my bum (when I am in a leaning forward position).

They may feel a little uncomfortable at first but you soon get used to it (just like wearing a helmet).

Wish they had made all this kind of gear years ago. (maybe that should be, wish it was readily available, years ago).

There is some really good safety gear out these days. If I was starting out now, this would be next on my want list for a road rider as soon as I got all my skin covered with good quality abrasive resistant material & a good helmet.

I've got an AXO with shoulder and double torso straps. Feels a little restrictive around the chest at first but it ain't no thing anymore. Don't know the model but it looks like your typical dainese or whatever. I also wear it every time i ride.

I have a Clover the same as pictured above. Nice and comfortable, I do not even notice its on now. It bends forward but not backwards the same as my spine. Squeaks slightly when I bend over but a dab of silicone should fix that if I ever get round to doing something about it.
I have the integral one in the jacket as well but they are not very sustantial but I left it there as every little bit helps

I wear it all the time on every ride. I get lazy or forget sometimes especially commuting but kick myself with the thought that I am more likely to have an off in the traffic with all the crap drivers :ar15: in Auckland than when I am on the open road, so I'll wear all the body protection I can sensibly wear and afford. Having suffered from back problems for most of my life I have no wish to make things worse in an accident if I can help it.

I got an armadilo type when they first came out in about 1990 using it on the dirt track,off road and street use,but when I got the XLV and sat more upright it wouldn't fit anymore.So when I got my Spidi jacket I trimmed the foam backing and put velcro on it so it would fit in the Spidi.Then I got the genuine Spidi back protector for the jacket - just a foam type,but made for the job.

I would like one of the mesh jackets with the built in hard armour,back protector and kidney belt next,wear diferent jackets or jerseys over top to suit the use.
