View Full Version : Akl Thurs night NIGHT RIDE and Drinks 13th April @ 6.30pm
Qkchk
10th April 2006, 13:03
What: A ride in the Northern Valleys in da dark
When: Thursday night after work on the 13th April
Where: Meeting @ Shell Westgate (at the end of the North Western M/Way)
Why: Because there is more to motorcycling than just talking about it and its a good way to test your headlight!
Time: Meeting there from 6.30pm departing @ 7pm
Pace: Open to all
- Remember I dont want to see anyone turn up with a tinted/irridium visor on! Any chance to lessen the risks we take in our riding the better! (If you dont have a clear visor, may I suggest buying/borrowing a pair of clear saftey glasses and keep ya tint visor up....)
- Darkness = Slower speeds (self explained...)
- I'm doin the rides not for so much the riding itself (very limited with time and what you can do with it) but the social get-together at the Albany pub afterwards. So if you can't make the ride, try and make the pub and meet fellow Kbers! The route will be discussed on the night. For those worried about distance/time the ride will last for approx 1hr and is 70kms long. We start at Westgate and finish up at the old Albany Pub.
Remember this ride is WEATHER PERMITTING - I will post up in the thread if it is postponed due to weather. I will decide on the day and post after 5pm.
Disclaimer: You participate on this ride at your own risk. I will not be held accountable for anyones actions, to/from and during the ride..
Anyone who is caught endangering others by their actions will be asked to leave the ride and may be refused entry to forthcoming rides!

There is a chance I may be in Aucks that night (2wheeled) and may come along. I would have spent the day riding from Wgtn (not the straight roads either) so if I managed to drag myself along it would be mostly for the social part.
If I do come along, I may have to get a guide from Western Springs/city area :).

From the Zoo (at Western Springs) head north towards Pt Chevilar till you get to the interchange for the North-Western Motorway, turn right to get on. Head West (ride away from the Skytower) til you get to the end of the motorway. Turn left at the end (set of lights) this area is Westgate. Go through 2 sets of lights then you will see us at the Shell servo on the left. Easy peasy. Any probs I will be passing thro the area and can arrange a meet up if need be. :apint:

Stop being a brat. You're not that old, it can't have been that long since you were on a 250.
Just turn up, it will be fun to ride with a fast experienced biker on a 250.

If all the planets come into alignment I might be able to turn up.
This requires the co-operation of work...no one phone 111 after 5pm, and Easter traffic, and if my wifes in a good mood. Finish at 6pm, will try and be there before 7If you think you won't make it in time, you can meet us the Dairy Flat Caltex. Thats where we do a re-group at approx 7.50-8pm. Otherwise we will see ya @ Albany Pub

I'm assuming that the ride is still on as I can't see any rain. Hopefully the clouds clear away a bit so that we're riding under the stars. The moon is out too.
JSG, I don't mind if you come along, someone needs to do TEC :blip: :nya:

Another goodun tks Qkchk & Custard!
Good sized group (about 12 i think?), one of the better groups I found, all stayed within about 30 secs of eachother from TEC to the lead rider. Always a challenge along those dark open roads, bit of rain kept us all (well most of us) honest...
Good to see Skelstar made it from Wellytown too, hope you made it to your sisters in one piece after being escorted by lady Keystone!
See ya's on the next one.

The actual ride was utter shit for some reason, for me at least.
I need a new chain and a better visor and probably a new bike while I'm at it, but I already knew that am doing something about it.
Thanks for the company at the pub, good to see you all again.

How good are you mechanically?? I know of a CBR250 for sale - it may need some work for about $1500.
It's done 88,000ks though. But for the money you save you could repair it and make it mint slowly.

$1,500 is the asking price? I might be interesting as a racer, I'm too big for 250cc road bikes, they are a waste of time really.
EDIT: I may end up getting the GT 650R as it does everything I want. Primarily I want economy and power, to me, the rider makes the bike where handling and shit is concerned.
Then again, the TL's are still looking good, I ride too much though so it'd be exspensive and i'd primarily do speeds a 650 V-Twin could do anyway.
