de-restrict it might be a good idea. Go to a bike wreckers find a bung old exhaust of a small two smoker and maby even a bigger carb, Its all down to money really.

yeah, it goes heaps faster without the airbox, would the expansion pipe off any old 2 stroke 50 work, or does it have to be the right one for the motor

it would be a whole lot easier to bin the old motor and get a bigger motor from a bike wreckers.

You're right Melody is a Rude name, but it goes ok, and has electric start and is auto so great for 9yo kids, When I want to have some grunt for me then I cobble the DT motor on and tear up the neighbours lawn.
You'd be surprised how many people have said "put a YZ250 on it mate, theyll learn once they've crashed a few times", the electric start is great, if you've ever had to walk miles up the beach to start a stalled or flooded kart that the kids have abandoned, then you'll know what I mean, The melody motor stays. It only cost me a block of cheese anyway lol.

I cant remember the melody engine off the top of my head, but the Honda dio and ZZ I have had a lot of experience with , I have a gornio cub for daily running about , Great wee thing.

There are a few things you can do Tune it like a normal two stroke. ( remove base gasket and give it a bit of compression )
Secondly there are a whole raft of after market kit here in Japan from places like Kito? , daytona.

the most common ones are clutch release wieghts and an ingition box.

But then thats probably worth more than the cart,
