On Good Friday (14April2006). Meet 9am, leaving soon after (when all those expected have arrived i guess), from Garage cnr Yaldhurst and Russley Rds.
Riding thru Arthurs pass proberbly into Greymouth for gas and lunch then up and over and thru the Lewis and back to Christchurch.
All are welcome.
If youré late you can proberbly catch our slower riders. Look out for my grubby blue Transalp with a gold GSX600F usually in tow and proberbly somewhere ahead a couple of red and blue? GSX1100F's. Those are the ones i know for sure so far.
I expect to go via Old West Coast Rd and stop to try wake up at Springfield Garage after that boring straight.

I imagine so, never run into trouble over Easter before. Just the tiny little places that i never fill at anyway might be closed. I always top up at Springfield. I'd be extreamly surprised if that were closed. Then i'm alright to Greymouth. Shull I pack a can for you incase?

Was a nice ride with a few lazy stops and great weather, We met freal1 at Arthurs Pass when we stopped there for a rest and pie. The only glitch in the ride was the long wait at a set of traffic lights set up at roadworks near the Viaduct. Miss Transalper had a car get a bit close while que jumping so her and I took a place in the que (about half way down) and went with the flow, took us almost 20minutes to get passed the lights. Feral1 accompanied us back to Kumara where he headded back to Hokitika, the rest of us headded to Greymouth and KFC then off through Reefton. Another fuel stop at Springs Junction then off home again. All garages we saw were open. The end of the ride was done in the dark with a clear night and full moon and still no wind to bother us.
1-Springfield Garage
2-Arthurs Pass
3-feral1's bike
4-the rest of our bikes still at Arthurs Pass
5-less than half the que at the roadworks. We couldn't see the end of the line behind us anymore.
6-My Transalp at Springs Junction

Yep well i should have taken the photo of the que 10 minutes earlier, it would have been even more spectacular.... down the hill, round the bend and up the hill again. Que was about a Km long when we found it and building fast, started just a couple of kms past town. There was no one actually working there, just a small dug up patch partly blocking a lane and cones around it. The lights seemed to let about eight cars from our side through then sometimes only one car would come from the other way. When we finally got through there were only two cars qued at the other side. I reckon the Arthurs side would have backed up all the way into the Arthurs Pass township in another hour.
