I've got my RM 250 and after I've spent all this money on it and got it going mint, I'm keeping it unless i get a new bike (the wife is slooooowly warming to the idea)

So I have having to lean it against trees all the time, Can you get a stand to fit on them? I'm not a mad MX jumper/pilot, so I think it's safe about not flicking down.

Any options for me?

Yes it is possible ,many companies make after-market side stands that fit motocross or trail bikes. I can probaly sort you out with a brand new one if you are intrested. send me a PM with your bike details etc and we can sort something out for you.

Sure can.
Go to a wreckers and find a (dirt) bike with a frame mounted side stand.
Steel would be best.
Get them to cut it off and weld it to your frame.
You may have alter the length to suit your bike.
Or if they will only sell the leg part and spring, take a pic of it or a cardboard copy.
And then make one, you may have to make the mounting bracket any way to mount the stand out of the way and where you want it.
It should only cost a few dollars and some time compered to buying one.

Yep I have, but I'm a bit far away to be of any real help.

If you get the stand already for someone to weld and book it in with a work shop they may do it while you wait, should not cost to much.
We would do it, if it was just a quick weld for about $20 I think.

For the ISDE the sidestands have to be homologated so no tacking one on yourself.
IT'S JUST TO STOP THE BIKE FROM FALLING OVER YOU.. YOU...

Just one of the reasons my brother decided to not ride and is looking at a dirtbike tour in Cambodia instead.

There is some very strange rules in ISDE. I wonder if there will be any 2WD bikes in this one, 2wd dirtbikes have been very successful so far.

"Homologated" is just another way of saying "as defined"
The 2006 ISDE Regulations in regard to sidestands say:

"061.42.2
Each motorcycle in the Parc Fermé must be equipped with a side-stand in order
to guarantee its stability (see Article 26.01 of the Enduro Technical Rules).

The stand must be part of the motorcycle chassis as homologated. In the
absence of this stand, access to the Parc Fermé will not be authorised. "

And Article 26.01 of the 2006 Enduro Technical Rules says:

"26.01
Every motorcycle in the ‘parc-fermé’ must be equipped with a side-stand. The
side-stand must be fitted, either on the frame or on the swing arm. "

So in other words you must fit one to your bike and it doesnt matter how you do it as long as it works, is placed on the frame or swingarm and passes the technical inspection prior to the event.

If you want to get an idea about what is required to get a MX bike ISDE ready then check out the May edition of KIWIRIDER and read the article about Michael Phillips KX250.

That ain't a great bike, rember back to Chris Birchs days with Kawasaki and his KX250's they were a great enduro bike in my opinion.

Picky?? Just wanted you to clarify your contradiction.

I would also be keen to know why you think the featured KX250 isn't any good?

No offence to KR chris the bike was good, but I thought it would be a bit more modified then it was as the bike was being built for Phillips. just my opinion anyways.

No offence to KR Well, we didn't build it, we just featured the bike in a tech article so no reason for us to be offended.

You said yourself that the rules are strange for ISDE. The technical regs are likely to allow only certain modifications.
