Hey guys and gals

Just a quick question for those in the know. What is the market value for a 1991 GSXR 400 with 32000km and in fairly good condition. (Pic in profile)

Had a run in with Mr Plod today and the fine cost while supporting myself and a stundent, plus the uncertainty of my license means I may have to part with my pride and joy.

Cheers all, I may post up the story later.

I payed between $3500 and $4500 for it and I have sorted a few issues with it, done some engine work and replaced some bits and peices so I would hope for a wee bit more.

its in rather mint condition ive have seen a few of these ranging from 3-5g
With fairly low ks and taking into account all the gsxr400s and there prices i would say its valued at 4 grand.Dont take anything less then 3.8.Then again if you market it well it is highly possible to get something in the visinity of 4.3 grand as ive seen one similar ks and condition go for that much.End result about 4grand to 4.3.Good luck

HAHAHA i feel like one of those dudes of antique road show.

RAD bike btw

Well, my mate just sold his 1991 ZXR400, 39 000km, fairly tidy, got $3300 for it. I'd of thought if you got $3500 for your GSXR you'd be doing well, as the ZXR's are usually more sort after than the GSXR. Also 400's seem to be worth less than 250's, as most people go from a 250 to a 600.
Heres his ZXR on Trade Me http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=52770826

D :finger:

Story in a short version cause In rather drunk and deaf after the Disturbed concert.

Went through and orange light doing a wheelie in the centre of town after following a Charade too closely cause the fucker was doing 12kph. Mr Plod was doing a orange light runner fucking inspection and unfortunatly I chose that time to do something fucking stupid. Mr Plod was kind enough to wave a couple infringements and allow me to keep the bike (New Boy racer law applies to bikes people) and I was stung with over a grand of tax collection and when supporting myself and MissSniper being a student its hard paying it off with the current loans I have.

Although Im angry, Im angry at myself for getting caught. Mr Plod was doing his job and he did let me off another $600 in fines so I appriciate his job. They keep idiots off the roads and after today I think I have been taught a lesson.

Bren, Im wanting more, but if another offer doesn't come along, I'll chat to you.

Thanks all
Signed Fucking idiot.

Over a possible $1600 in tickets??? What the fuck were you doing?

neats
21st April 2006, 02:28
What does that work out to? $1000 for going 50 over the speed limit and he let your off the fine for riding like a egg? Mr Plod as you put it would consider pulling a wheelies dangerous ??

:killingme :killingme :killingme  I'm sorry Sniper but this sounds like another one of you stories like shooting some one at point blank range, and the stoppie story were you had two girls creaming there tweds... but it turned out you fuked a gear change up  or or the body guard story

snip... I have ridden with you and you are a slowish and safe rider, nothing wrong with that.
Mate I reckon you did do the amber light thing bastard that but there is a blitz on and bloody good show too.

Now you sold the CBR for more than you paid for the GSXR... so won't that difference make up for the ticket? The GSXR suits you and looks sweet keep it, reckon you will anyway :scooter:

BTW: Brens taking the piss silly billy

Hey Sniper, really sorry to hear you may have to sell the bike. There's nothing worse. Torque paid from memory $3500 for a mint 400, same year as yours. I like the colours of yours, could be worth around $4K.

Good on ya for not having a bitch about the cop, takes nads to stand up and say "I fucked up". Doesn't make the pill any easier to swallow however.

WTF? Don't sell the bike. Imagine the time it would take to replace it... it's not worth it in the long run if there are installmant plans available to make paying the fine easier.

Fishy
21st April 2006, 09:09
Keep the bike Stu, I'm pretty sure any fine over the figure of around $350 can be paid off. Just pay it back at $5/week.

Did Mr Plod give you a large number of demerit points too? You still have your license eh?

kiwifruit
21st April 2006, 09:12
don't sell!!!
surely there is a way around selling?
i will give you $2 a week to help pay the fucker off

Mr Plod was kind enough to wave a couple infringements and allow me to keep the bike (New Boy racer law applies to bikes people)

umm elaborate please, which new law was he going to confiscate your bike with?

marty
21st April 2006, 12:32
uneccesary display of speed or accelleration

sAsLEX

uneccesary display of speed or accelleration

involves the roadside impounding of a vehicle? Fuck me what another great GREY law bought to us by the letter L and prob T,S and A as well.

So I hoof off from the lights to get out in front of traffic(after waiting for the three to four red light runners), get to the speed limit in quick time, as its safer that way. And some trumped up wanker of a cop, I have met many, can just take my Bike and say it was uneccesary? With no guidelines or level published for us to gauge how we are meant to act? rubbish

D I know what you mean, but unfortunatly Bren made up half those stories, not me. I have a mate staying with me at the moment who can verify the "bodygaurd" (I was on a building watching over another building, that aint being a body gaurd)

Unfortunatly for me I cannot afford to pay a fine off and also it looks likely I will lose my license cause even if I don't get done for careless I think it is, Im not sure if I have enough demerits to handel the fines. I don't want the bike sitting in the shed doing nothing.

sAsLEX, He didn't give me details of why or how and I wasn't going to ask him.

Thanks guys, that looks like a good figure

Sniper

I'll think about it.

Anyway, just to clear a few confused minds. I know I can drip feed the fine and I want to keep the bike, but selling it means I can pay fines as well as a couple of those horrible debts that I somehow managed to accumulate. After that is done, it will be easy to save for another bike and faster too.

Thanks to those who offered to help, top guys, but unfortunatly this is my stupid mistake and I must bear it.

I paid $1500 for mine, that help...........no........oh sorry.

Bad luck Sniper mate dig in son and keep the bike, if you sell it you will take ages to get another one, not that many around dude
