There was a Madass 125 (Or maybe it was a 50cc) at Sawyers the other day. I was confused and amazed.

I had a go on some PGO scooter once, flimsy, flimsy, flimsy scary thing. Felt totally unsafe, but that Madass thing looked solid as. If I had the cash and wanted a scoot, that'd be it. But the 125cc, a 50cc 4 stroke would be pretty weak...

I phoned the guy up. seemed genuine, and I would FAR rather buy one of these than some chinese POS mini chopper. this looks cool for starters and anything with a fake plastic engine by definition can never be cool.

It weighs 140kgs, but can carry a whopping 190kgs on top of that! So thats a 50 kg rider and a spare bike!

Cool looking on the pic, but 140kgs seems a little on the heavy side with only 15hp.

The fiddy weighs 85kg dude...

Still seems a little heavy, but I guess it means it's likely to be more rigid than your avarage 10-speed.

Yeah they weigh 85kg. BTW, hi there - I'm new to the forum. Am looking into getting one of these MadAss to offset the skyrocketing cost of going to Uni by bus (that's what I told the girlfriend so shhh!). Uses about 2.5 litres per 100 Km, so not half bad. Officially the 50cc has exactly 2 kw, but on the German MadAss forum one of the guys there has started a modding store. With a bit of money it will do 65-70km/h, and with more money, more. Or you can get a generic 125cc motor and bolt it on instead. They seem to be very stable and good to ride from what I hear. Comes as a 2 gear automatic or a 4 gear manual option. I'm keen on a set of these wheels to be honest.

But for inner city driving, that's all I need. Most cars can't even get up to 50 km/h in Auckland anymore with this f%&*ed up traffic. And with minor modifications (all legal mind you), it will do a bit more.

Sachs bikes available in NZ - very interesting.

I called the CHCH number and asked whether they have any plans to bring in the 800 Roadster - uses the Suzuki 800cc 45 degree Vtwin.

The guy said they have been looking at it but haven't decided.

OK I'm totally new to bikes and motors and all. Lambast me as you will but I bought the Copy Sachs Madass off trademe and have inherited a bung carb. Its a Honda(lambast away) engine 48cc with some after market carb(non original) which the carb shop tells me is a modified 2 starke. I just want this bike for my daughter to get to work and back on around the insane Auckland streets where you can't go fast etc and we got FA money so gas + econ this looked like a goodie. The quality of the build is fantastic. I have been to every bike shop and wecker (bar Atomic who was closed) trying to match the carb with anything they had. All the new spares parts places shook their heads. The current carb has Kei Hin MA 558a on it and is a straight through carb with a manifold attachment of 18mm bore the only thing holding it onto the bike. I'm told by previous owner that it is not the original carb and that this current carb came off a motor mower?The men atCarb Specialties are having another go at fixing it so it don't flood but tell me its been having this problem for awhile and I'd be best to find a new one. So cyber bikersanyone know where to start? Please help. Cheers.

Great little scoot but dont go near the 50cc model. (In Auckland you would get run over).

I got a 125 MadAss and had to do a fair bit to sort the "assembly" and a few fixes plus a few mods to add to the cool factor. Seat is diabolicaly uncomfortable and I am looking to mod that ASAP.

Mine has touched 100k ph (if the speedo is accurate).

My understanding is Sachs have gone bust and according to my mate , ChCh agent can not supply a single bike. ...Pity cos I could have sold a hundred of them...always heaps of interest in mine wherever I take it.

These things use a standard clone Chinese engine, not even that good quality.
Any Lifan or Loncin parts will fix this bike.
This bike model has been around since 2003, copied and built in Yongkang China by one of the largest Mini Chopper and Pocket bike factories there.

You can ofcourse get the Lifan or Loncin engines fitted as a factory option but most dont because its ups the buy price too much.

I have all the engine parts for these.

For Auckland peeps.....I was at Motohaus today getting a new rear tyre and Kerry has some of the MadAss ones there. The pricing was good but I didn't like the yellow too much. Interesting design.
