Was at the V8supercar racing at Pukekohe today, just before the last race, they had a parade for the drivers. these bikers on Harleys came out must have been around 40 or 50 bikes to take the drivers, and some promo girls for a lap of the track, understandable no one wore helmets, but if one of the bikes had of gone down some one would have gotten badly hurt, specially the promo girls who were wearing there skimpy little out fits (such lovely little out fits they were too ) showing more bare skin they would get injured just triping over.
Does motorsport have a double standard were it promote safety and then turns around and allows this, what do you think I know here on KB some people think that wearing jeans is not good enough.

a. It's a private "road".
b. Who cares. Safety Nazis are/have ruined what we regard/regarded as our way of life.

Can't swim where we like, can't drive/ride how we or where we like, can't give bullies what they deserve, can't answer a policeman back, who is after all a person just like you and me, can't tell your kids off, can't let rugby cheerleaders expose their midriff, can't say you don't like Turkish food (ethnicity based insult that), can't celebrate a bloke with the common sense to give himself as many advantages as possible in a dangerous situation (sorry about the revisionist PC wankers Sgt Hulme VC, may he RIP), can't express your dislike of a "workmate's" inability to ever do the job they're asked to do, can't suggest that a health system's inability to provide the care it needs to is actually due to the fact that they've replaced passionate healthcare workers & administrators with "managers" (no it's the two nurses looking after 14 people in the Emergency Dept's fault), and now we can't enjoy the spectacle of a bunch of bikes giving a bunch of amateur car racers (I watched the races - pack of bloody amateurs) a parade lap with a bit of eye candy thrown in.

Great rant, completely agree.

a. It's amazing that the ownership of the black tar determines whether a law applies. Though I should be careful saying that otherwise the government will feel the need to protect me from myself and those lovely ladies, and fill in their time by creating another law...

b. At least because of (a) an accident wouldn't affect motorcyclists ACC levies, so the said Safety Nazi's only have the "what message does this give" angle.

Looks like the street nazis have started to ride bikes BD?

Since when do any of you think you have the right to say how someone else lives their lives? How would all you do gooders feel if you was told what type of bike you could ride and when you cound not ride? These attitudes that people happily display is why the counrty is so farked and why we riders get shafted when it comes to regos and insurace. Anyone wanna tell me what I can and can't do on my bikes on private land? Get farked! :finger:

Don't feel "strongly" about any of the things I mentioned, just reflecting on a week where traditional news sources and the original post seem to show something about our Kollective Kiwi psyche that I don't feel is positive.

Did the parade need a comment about "safety"? Probably not.

Man, I came off the front of my bike yesterday doing stoppies. No helmet. No gear... in jandals and a shirt. Went a bit past 'bedtime' with the bike.. silly me.

BUT this happened to be on a pushbike, and has happened to me many a time. You learn to fall and learn how to hit the ground without whacking your head - I guess these people do. They know the risks, so just fuckin let them take them.

Stevo

IMHO........ There is a time and place for most things and cruisin around on the back of a bike at 30-40 ks is not too bad in a controlled environment I wouldn't have thought.

Just glad when I go Scuba diving I take similar safety precautions to what I do with my road bike. Shit that guy was lucky in Cook Strait yesterday. Ten points for the vigilant person/s on the ferry.

In saying that I ride a farm bike nearly every day, but always make sure I have good footwear. Don't spose ya can get brain damage twice????

A rather expensive way to prove a point though.

OK Shad. Point taken. But I responded to your post in which you claimed I wanted to ride your Harley.

Now when I park my bike next to Harleys guess what gets the most looks. Not the Harley. The other thing I notice is that the girls seem to notice Guzzis more than any other bike. Don't believe me. Next time you see a Guzzi parked up watch the woman. The can't help themselves. They just love our big 'balls' hanging there 'side by side.' My bikes a fella. What's yours..................???????

So, does not that mean, by corollary, that men who ride Guzzis are gay? Also attracted to them by said big balls hanging their, and an urge to ride something with big balls? :devil2:
