Okay after all the nagging about pics of the new beast, I got off me bum and got the bike out for some photos.....
Just excuse the Suzuki in the background (Custards Gixxer), it's just there so you can compare the quality build of the Yamaha :bleh:
This is a 2006 YZF - R1 in the 1970's classic race scheme. It is a limited edition only released for this year only........ hence the '50th Anniversary'. Has a label on the front above the headlights and a sticker on the fueltank to commemorate this. (Plus the retro colour scheme:wari:) And no, I did not buy this to match Custard's bike either so :finger:
BTW The bike is a bit dirty from riding in yesterdays downpours...........

Everywhere you look there's a damn blue one, yes they do look good but I think it's time Yamaha got more creative.

I think the only difference between the LE (SP - called the LE in overseas markets) and the standard is the Ohlins suspension and the Italian wheels. No power change.

The 50th Anniversary paint job is the best ever. Be great if they left it as an option on all models.

You should have, I've heard that Suzuki are good at vehicles for tough conditons. The vitara's for example, or the jimnys, or the sj's.

yamahas 50th anversery model is all bullshit , the first 18 years of those 50 were spent making pencils ,pianos ,sewing machines and looms , the 50th aniversery model should have been a flash pencil with a sporty paint job

It was a fast pencil, would always leave black line on paper.
Nice Bike Qkchk, would be like riding a 250 after the busa, but with a hell of alot of power
