Whining GSX1100F

Any thoughts on why the running gear might be emmitting a whining noise?:confused:

My thoughts are:

Just had new tyres, Pirelli Sport Demons, fitted. (imagination?)
Tight spot(s) in chain (yet to check)
Transmission:( (still does it coasting in neutral and in gear with clutch in)
Wheel alignment (yet to check but handling seems OK)

Jokes aside - wheel bearing or final drive bearing. Are Sport Demons suitable for such a heavy bike?

The high pitched screaming was solved with sealed down visor (hers) and ear plugs (mine):D

Apparently SD's are ok & recommended by Bike shop. Seems to handle alright.
GSX1100F has 16" wheels so choice is a factor as well. I'll see how they last.

Thanks for all the advice people, although handbags don't cut it any more.

Its a Suzuki, whining is quite often normal on the bikes, but more often from their owner, or both. Often cured by a blow to the head with a blunt object or replacing the motorcycle with a superior brand. Likewise, if the said whining does not affect the riding or handling, then it can be ignored and only needs to be concerned about it should it get worse.:nya:

if it was not noticeable before your fitment of new tires,, get the bike recheck over as the boys may have put things back wrongly,, happens more than you think!!!

Seems you have solved my little Sports demon noise. Had new ones installed a month ago on rear and front and also noticed a similar noise which I presumed was coming from the front tyre. It isnt an annoying noise and only occurs at open road speed on certain surfaces. Similar to when you are in a car and travelling on the open road you get tyre noise on most surfaces, and you notice it more because the engine noise is a lot less than a bikes. Mostly notice it when slowing down at speed because its then noticeable over the 600's engine noise. Pretty sure it wasnt there before getting the tyres but I presume it will fade with usage. I have found the tyres very good but did feel a slight slip on new seal on a tight corner last week. Havent tried then in the wet yet.

OH - yes I got my wheels balanced so its not the fitting.

GSX1100F rear brake pistons have a habit of not returning fully.
try some brake kleen and elbow grease.
Mine did the same about every 8000kms. Although the fourth time it was the lip of the disc rubbing on the metal part of the pad. Rotor grind fixed that.

Tip 1: no matter how old the sheet looks check with the pillion before using it as a drop sheet or for wiping brake kleen off the disk.

Tip 2: Brake Kleen does not come out in the wash and makes your other washing stink for about 5 loads.

I was eating a chicken pie once for smoko, got big gelatine/chicken stain on my groin, in the work cage, had a can of Brakleen onboard (dry cleaning fluid) spray affected area....... JESUSFUCKINGCHRISTHOLYSHITMOTHERFUCKER it hurt. I won't do that again, in fact I always get Steak & Cheese now.
