I know this is probably been covered a thousand times BUT.....
I have just got a new bike (GSX1400 K4):blip: and it has a almost new Pirelli Diablo Strada on the front and an almost new Bridgestone Battlax BT020 on the back.:gob:
I do not want mixed tyres on my bike it is a strict No No as far as I am concerned.
Any advice or help would be appreciated.:wait:
Do I get another BT020 for the front or another Strada for the rear?
Does some one out there want either one or can we swap odd tyres so we both end up with a matching set.
Or do I sell them of and get a set of new ones.:whocares:

Me and mates use Diablo's and find got enough grip and last a bit longer than the sportier ones... whats a bit of sliding amongst friends :D

The rear is not nice in the wet very snakey.
The dry is ok but I have not started to push it yet, but it will happen.

The 020 is not in the same league as the strada, different era.

I run a diablo corsa on the front and a strada on the rear. There's also a few new tyres out there like the avons and metzys as well which may be better. Match your rear tyre to your riding and go with a nice sticky tyre up front. I chose the diablos because the corsa the same shape (round) as the strada.

But do not, I repeat do not put an 020 on the front. I'd rather drive a cage.

BTW, The consensus on KB seems to be if you're a hoon go for the pilot powers if you want an all year round tyre.

You've seen my threads on tyres for this beast so I need say no more.
Know nothing on the tyres you have at present but plenty of reports on the 020's. Nobody with 1400's likes the 020's and they reckon they are lethal in the wet.

Tyres are like beer, we all have our own preference. My old Bandit was shod with Diablo Stradas and I go along with Korn there but they were fine (we aint Rossi & Co) for what I did with some fanging and some touring (2 up). Pends on what you want to do with the bike and also if you are going to be carrying any extra weight over the rear (passenger and luggage). My freind Shane runs 020's on his ZRX 1200 and nearly allways rides 2 up, rides assertively, has no chicken strips and gets good mileage out of them.. He has done 2 sets on the bike and is on his third. Horses for courses I guess.. The OEM BT56 on the rear of my Busa died at 3500 K..! Where the Avon I have now is hacking the miles and is real good in the wet. I have never had any difficultys with mixing tyres as long as you don't have a higher performing tyre on the rear but once again thats also like beer..

Now if I am right Strada is actually the Metezler Z6. If you look at the two side by side you'll see what I mean. So they should have similar if not identical construction. In that case I would suggest getting a Metezler M1 or M3 for the front.

WeeStromer, I have ride with u a few times and I don't think you really race around right? In that case it should rule the super stickys out... as a sports touring like the Strada should help handle the tire shreading torque from the 1400.

When i got the FZ1 it had 020s on it. They seemed ok,(didnt know much better) even in the wet. Killed the first rear going up the Kaimais one day.
Changed to the Stradas a little while ago, thought i was riding a new bike, they seem to give a lot more confidence. After a good ride round the corro loop you wouldnt even think that you had been any where, just the odd skuff.

I have to say this , in my opinion the powers are the most over rated tyres I have ever ridden on . Very good until they let go , then its very hairy. In thier defence this was on the track not the road. I would rather a tyre drift slightly early and be progressive than give give you the big step out fright.

BT 014's , Diablo Corsas , Diablos , they are all great tyres though even the michelins compared to what we used to ride on!

The Stradas are a brilliant road tyre (once warmed up) and I tried real hard to make them miss behave.
