Hello all Wellington KB'ers, been a long time comming, but im moving up the the capital! having just handed in my resignation today im still buzzing/shocked. The plan is to be up there bt the start of june, although i havent got the details sorted out yet, my cibbie may be a week or three behind me, i may leave it in Timaru, grab a cheap flight back and ride her up (i wouldnt want to miss the great ride by transporting her up...)
I will be working in on of Wellys many fine cafes (plying my trade) and have a couple of mates up there allready, but im keen to meet as many motorway-hardened riders as possible to show me the sweet local roads, (i hear the Rimutakas are alright? :Pokey: ) also wondering where people would reccommend i go to get my honda serviced, is the official honda shop saywers/motorad? any suggestions? what a crazy few weeks a head of me i so frikkin excited, and more than a lilttle aprehensive (being a country lad at heart..):violin: but i'm looking foward to hanging out in mojo/fidels/lafare/peoplescoffee/ministryof-food and talking bikes maybe have a few quiets?

man, 28 days to go and couning down! see you soon KB'ers!:yeah:

Great place to live and the cafe capital of the world , at one stage anyway.
Yes I think Sawyners in Newtown are still official Honda dealers but you will find Wellington such a nice 'small' compact town to live in that you may hardly use the bike except for weekends. Which part of Wellington are you staying in ?? Any parking for the bike? A lot of areas only have onroad parking and you have to take the wind into account if wanting to cover the bike. Suggest if no ' around the back ' or garage available, advertise to rent a nearby garage. Just try and keep it off the street as some roads are so darn narrow. Welcome and perhaps we will meet at some stage.

That is one very nice looking bike. Just remember to check out your insurance claus too re parking the bike. I am lucky enough to have a driveway, enclosed carport and the bike is out of sight away from the road and kept covered, locked and bolted with a K3 steel lock. Also security lights all round. Even so some insurance companies require bikes to be chained to a bolt as well!!. Hopefully you should be OK just get it off the road.

Good stuff. Be good to see you around the cafes, and eventually on the roads. Will hook up for some coffee at some stage soon.

Sawyers aren't Honda agents anymore (Hondas are just too slow). Motomart is the Honda dealer now. Talk to Sparky Bills.

Welcome to the Capital. Can always find room for an extra bike on the roads.

You're certainly moving up at the right time of the year. My better half's family come from Timaru way and I understand it's not the best winter biking weather down that way.

Wont see you on the bike if youre always behind us locals and Sukie riders of course. Have thought about getting a couple of those KB stickers and put them on the side fairing. Not sure if they are still available though.

Even if there were twenty of them, it would only be as cool as one GIXXER!!!
Deano will just have to get used to it.

Welcome intense. Timaru hey. I lived in Winchester for a few years as a Kid. Man that's a winter in the deep south! Puddles would ice up- and stay that way for months, no thawing. You will find Wgtn warmer but maybe a tad windier. Don't rush out to get an umbrella unless it's titanium reinforced.
You wont have trouble finding KBers. Just follow your nose up the Hutt motorway and you will stumble on to the Rimutuka hill top carpark. From there most ride out to Martinborough or Gladstone or lake Ferry and there abouts.
The Chch Port Hills to Akaroa are better roads for scratching on though.

You won't regret the move. I have just returned to Wellington from living in the Hawkes Bay for 3 years. I hope to join a few rides in the very near future.

Good move dude!

Welly is a pretty great city for a youngin like yourself. I'm sure you're gonna have a ball.
If you move into the City area, I'd service the bike at Sawyers. Their mechanics are switched on with the entire Honda range. They sell all the Honda models too.
If you move out the Hutt area, Try Motomart. They're Honda agents.

I can't talk though, I go to Dave Andersons in Masterton for all my services.

Are we going to see you around soon? We need need some more nice friendly local Wellington ladies to join in future rides. Love your profile photo.

OMG - Are you back from Aussie yet and have you made up your mind what you are going to be riding next ?? Really looking forward to seeing you on a ride. I have been thinking about going up to the Rimatukus and spending several hours going over and back several times to get some confidence in my riding with the new bike and tyres and the fact I have only been up them once in seven years. I think they are the perfect place to get to know exactly what your bike is capable of and to muck around with suspension settings for each run. Imagine spending half the day just doing that bloody gorge !!! Yes - only if its dry this time !! Read the report on the Welly ride - some of the other riders were blatting but had a few events but no spills thank god. Cheers all.

Yip back from Oz. Opinion is firmly in favour of the RF900, only problem is finding one - none in the Welly area. Bike is a write off, just waiting for the payment. Can't wait to get back on the road (and the Rimutakas).

Well we should go and break both bikes in and do as I was thinking about several circuits starting slowly and then off for a meal somewhere. Sure some of the other guys would make an effect and follow behind some of us 'back to bikes' riders and watch to see if we can improve our cornering tech's etc. Any one esle in ... Maximus? You could look at arranging a Rimutaka training day couldnt you?? Would be great fun for some of us smaller bike owners if we can hit the weather right. Imagine 2 hours of rimatukus...!?@?!?!?!!

There is an RF900 in at Sawyers on Vivian St.

Ring Barry New on 802 5127 and say that Jim Walsh sent you. If Barry isn't there ask for Brendan Keogh.

There is actually already a programme run by Uncle B if you are interested in contacting him to talk about it.

There is also a group of mentors available on KB. Ask Spankme, or any of the Mods for contact details.

Thanks Jim.. Perhaps we should also look at giving a gold coin etc towards these programmes towards Spankme and co for providing this website and helping to keep the accident events down. After all the more the Wellington group gets the skills and ride the more we can enjoy our rides and keep together as a group and encourage more newbies to join in a safe envirnoment. I was sadden to hear in the current weeks main forum that I have joined what is perceived to be a dangerous group of riders....
Been in Wellington we have several wonderfully exciting routes like haywoods and the rimutakas close at hand and great places to also visit after them and socialise. Cheers
