"We're an American Band" was the title track of their 1973 album. :D
edit: Found the info here (http://www.classicbands.com/grandfunk.html). Also of note is the same year (don't know if it was before or after the album release) they dropped the "RailRoad" from their name to just become Grand Funk.
From the Album of the same name.
We're An American Band
On the road for forty days,
Last night in Little Rock put me in a haze.
Sweet, sweet Connie -- doin' her act,
She had the whole show and that's a natural fact.
Up all night with Freddy King,
I got to tell you poker's his thing.
A-booze 'n ladies keep me right,
As long as we can make it to the show tonight.
CHORUS
We're an American band.
We're an American band.
We're coming to your town, we'll help you party it down.
We're an American band.
Four young chaquitas in Omaha,
Was waitin' for the band to return from the show.
Feelin' good, feelin' right, it's Saturday night,
The hotel detective -- he was out-a-sight.
Now, these fine ladies, they had a plan,
They was out to meet the boys in the band.
They said, "Come on, dudes, let's get it on,"
And we proceeded to tear that hotel down.
CHORUS
CHORUS
CHORUS
CHORUS
We're an American Band, Ooo-ooo.
We're an American Band, Ooo-ooo.
We're an American Band, Ooo-ooo.
I know I'm showing my age, but I'd forgotten all about that song, and it's now brought back some (great and also not-so-great!) memories.
Thanks guys.

mmm grand funk... I like the sound of that. Tell me, was it actually a funk band with serious grooves from talented black men?... or a bunch of honkies trying to sell some crust tunes?

The word "funk" has been re-engineered since the days of GFR. Enough said...

CK: you're obviously in a different generation than some of us :D

yeah yeah, I know, i'm a young :punk:
but I still LOVE true afro american funk from the 60's/70's. Irritates the heck out of me that theres so many talentless poseurs in the music industry now that claim to be 'funky' yet appear to have little or no concept of where Funk came from and how it became famous.. so if grand funk railroad existed in in 1973 but didn't have some blinding basslines and crazy hair the I don't wanna know about it! (on the other hand, if they were a George Clinton/James Brown/Bootsey Collins etc. side project, I'll go looking for their stuff!)

You must be one of the few as Kazaa Lite and Kazaa are one of the most notorious programs for Adware and Spyware known to man kind.

Their version of Give Me Shelter makes the Stones attempt look like it was arranged by James Last.

Have you considered importing? Amazon list a number of GFR titles (but not "the best of..)

Beg to differ. Kazaa is. Kazaa Lite K++ is not. KL++ is a hacked, freeware version of Kazaa with the evil stuff removed. I'm running version 2.4.3 and have no complaints. Certainly anyone who runs the 'official' Kazaa client is in for a bad time.
I'm not sure whether KL++ is still easy to find on the net - if anyone wants a copy, PM me.

Meh - I am running the subscribed version anyway with no 'additional extras'
I use WinMXv3.31 for my music downloads (www.winmx.com/download/)
Downloads are ok speed wise and you can share files if you so wish, if not, still able to download.

Only thing I use atm is DC (Direct Connect). Private hubs mean the MAN is kept at bay. And the chat feature is good enough that I don't bother visiting the forum that spawned the hub.
Have looked into waste and the (name of it has slipped my mind at present) secure graphical client that VIA gpl'ed. But no one else I know is giving these a go yet so it's a bit hard to get into (particularly when you have a int cap to keep an eye on).
I use WinMx,not too bad,it's not a mainstream job so don't feel the spys are watching me.Also have Limewire, seems to give a million up loads off me but stuff all downloads, but when it does it's bloody quick.
What?

Also worth a try is www.gemarecords.co.uk
I buy from them frequently.
