View Full Version : Lowering fuel prices

This has just come through to me. Read on,
it's a very interesting
idea!
Join the resistance!!!! Do you want petrol
prices to come down? We
need to take some intelligent, united action.
Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea..
This makes
MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a
certain
day"campaign that was going around last
April or May!
The oil companies just laughed at that
because they
knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves
by
refusing to buy gas. It was more of an
inconvenience
to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,
whoever
thought of this idea, has come up with a plan
that can
really work. Please read on and join with us!
By now you're probably thinking fuel priced
at
about $1.00 is super cheap.. Me too! It is
currently
$1. 67 Ltr for regular unleaded.. Now that
the
oil companies and the OPEC nations have
conditioned us
to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is
CHEAP at
$1..00, we need to take aggressive action to
teach them that BUYERS control the
marketplace. not
sellers. With the price of gasoline going up
more each
day, we consumers need to take action. The
only way we
are going to see the price of gas come down
is if we
hit someone in the pocketbook by not
purchasing their
gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting
ourselves.
How?
Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just
stop
buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas
prices if
we all act together to force a price war.
Here's the idea: For the rest of this year,
DON'T
purchase ANY gasoline from the biggest
company MOBIL. If they are
not
selling any gas, they will be inclined to
reduce their
prices. If they reduce their prices, the
other
companies will have to follow suit. But to
have an
impact, we need to reach literally millions
of
Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do!
Now, don't wimp out on me at this
point...keep reading and
I'll explain how simple it is to reach
millions of
people!!
I am sending this note to 30 people. If each
of us
send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)
... and
those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x
10 =
3,000)...and so on, by the time the message
reaches
the sixth group of people, we will have
reached over
THREE MILLION consumers....Most of New
Zealand !!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10
people.
That's all! (If you don't understand how we
can reach 3 million
and all you have to do is send this to 10
people....
How long would all that take? If each of us
sends
this e-mail out to ten more people within one
day of
receipt, all 3 MILLION people could
conceivably be
contacted within the next few days!!! I'll
bet you
didn't think you and I had that much
potential, did
you! Acting together we can make a
difference.
If this makes sense to you, please pass this
message
on. I suggest that we not buy from /MOBIL
UNTIL
THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.00 RANGE
AND KEEP
THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

Why Mobil?
BP is the market leader in NZ.
BTW.
This didn't work last time it was suggested.
Ok, so now ive seen one to boycott shell, bp, gull and mobil!
So if we dont buy from mobil and buy from shell then another person who got told to not buy from shell buys from mobil so all our work is un done and the gas companies just laugh at thier little ant farm...
I avoid BP and Mobil
probly didn't work 'last time' cos it wasn't carried on long enough...?
I'm all for it!
filled up the van today (going to Palmy tomorrow) = $103!!!!!
and only got 61L of the smelly stuff in return!

err - at the risk of putting a wee spannerin the works...
what if the whole of NZ shut down oil consumption. Let's say we did the ultimate and found a completely free, renewal source of enewrgy blah blah blah
Sheel, BP and the others would lose how much capacity? 1%... maybe 2%?
Would they go under... probably not. Would they suffer - a little... but the most suffering would be done by kiwis that no longer own their fuel station businesses.
I'm not saying it's a bad goal - it is a great goal. Just don't overestimate the effect it'll have. If it comes down to it, the winner would be those that lose the least. People in NZ without transport would lose more than the multinationals
Well who do we like the least? Shell, Caltex, Mobil or BP?
Who's your favourite?

Why Gull?
Wherever they opened they caused prices to drop.
what about when you're on the coro loop, and need to gas up at whitianga, and the only station open is the mobil. is it ok to use it then?

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' PETROL FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET PETROL BACK DOWN TO $1.00 PER Litre....hopefully
This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this winter, take time to read this PLEASE.
Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day' campaign that was going around last April or May!
It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!
We are going to hit $ 2.00 a litre and it might go higher!! Want petrol prices to come down?
We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to 'hurt' ourselves by refusing to buy petrol.
It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really work. Please read on and join with us!
By now you're probably thinking petrol priced at about $1.50 is cheap.
It is currently $1.90 for regular unleaded.
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a liter of gas is CHEAP at $1.50, we need to take aggressive action toteach them that BUYERS control the marketplace...not sellers.
With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.
The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their petrol! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 20 million people will have been contacted!
If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... TWO HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!
I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!
Acting together we can make a difference.
If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO BELOW THE $1.50 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.
Simple - send the message along to other and do not buy petrol from BP NZ
Hey - what a Great Idea!
Yeah right! - you fail to see the obvious flaw in this plan???
Obvious flaw in the plan?

Oil... don't burn it - invest in it!
And then put it in little capsules?
The companies won't give a toss.
Realistically NZ is such a tiny market, they wouldn't have a second thought before pulling out of the entire country. All your doing then is costing thousands of people their jobs.
What about the owner/operators? They are forced to buy the fuel at that cost, by avoiding them your taking the food out of their kids mouths. They work damned hard at what they do, and realistically, have no say whatsoever over the price. Why penalise them for that?

What pisses me off most is that up to 60% of the price of oil is 'speculation' and not actually supply vs demand. Everytime somebody worries that the oil supply is gonna get disrupted, even in small, they buy up more oil.
Then there's the fact that these companies run profits in billion's of dollars every year, but somehow find the need to keep raising prices. It's a sad sad world... im gonna go ride my bike and make them a little richer again.

Ummm you are aware that fuel with out the GST is 40 or 47 percent tax. So fuel is actually around $1 per L, Thats what the oil company sell it for and considering they have to put it through an oil refinery ship it across the sea, then transfer it to truck that takes it to all the gas stations I dont think thats a bad deal, just vote for a better government and not the greens.

wont do shit all difference
at the end of the day you need the fuel in the tank so eventually you have to fuel up

Why bother the Oil companies with such issues, tackle the government 40% tax THEN 12.5% on top of that from every litre sold in NZ.
Can we boycot the government ?
Or can we boycot China and India who are getting subsidised gas therefore demand is higher as if it was possible in a already oil ravenous market
Anyway, nothing will work, forget it, get used to it, get over it
The consumer has been divided and Truly conquered.

I think we need to get used to the idea that oil's a finite resource,& dropping the price will always be a short term solution
Get real people, the writings on the wall. We've all been living the capatalistic dream & ignoring the mounting problem of trashing our planet & living unsustainably. Im just as bad as anyone....but for how long have we been hearing the warnings for? F@#kin YEARS!! I dont think you can blame the oil companies any more than the useless F@#kwits who have been running the govts since the last crisis in '78...& who are still unable (or dont want to)to confront the hard issues. So half of you will vote for the Nats next on the promise of bigger tax cuts, like is that really gonna solve anything? Or youll vote for Helen cause ya parents always did...Do you think that either of them will really address the problems that we're facing now & which'll be even harder for our Kids?
Unfortuanately the systems the problem,& money aint gonna solve it because the capatistic system IS the problem. So if you want keep to your head in the sand, live for now & not the future, then go ahead & keep on deluding yourselves.Bitchin & moaning wont change much, has it ever?
Man ,its obvious to me we're facing the largest set of challenges since...well I dont know since when,& the cost of gas is only the biginning of whats to come.....If you ask me THE GREENS are our best hope.I dont want to pay more for anything either ,but I dont think we have a choice any longer. To wean ourselves off this selfish system is going to cost heaps.Im sick of hearing people slaggin' off the Greens....wasnt them that got us into the shit & 90% of ya's will vote for the 2 sets of f@#kers that did....
They're the only ones who consistantly push for change,& who give you an honest opinion & realistic answers to the problems facing us all. Oh I hear you say," I'd never vote for the Greens cause of Sue Bradford " Well tell that to the next generation, youd rather the right to smack your kid than the right to a future for them? Putting off doing somethng now only make it harder later....yet youll vote for the same dickwackers that have sold off nearly everything, & promise you the same old bullshit?:mad:
Come on folks get real,we got a real challenge ahead....:grouphug:
