I do believe that JSG should be apologising to SPB's wife for the stress etc that she was placed under.
Also he should be apologising to SPB and the rest of KBers.

There were many of SPB friends reading that post and believed that he had crashed his bike, knowing about SPB spinal/neck operation that he had had recently. Any bin for him could be fatal so it wasn't nice to read what JSG said and then to find out later it wasn't true.

I even asked JSG if it was for real and he said YES...

It wasnt until later then he said it was a pisstake...
Yes he even sent me a PM later on to confirm this to me.

JSG must realise what he has done is wrong.

We have lost riders in accidents and yes many of us have had accidents and lived but some don't live. To post a bulllshit post like this is out of order in my opinion.

I would like SpankMe to sort it out.. in what ever way he feels fit.
As this is SpankMe's site.

justsomeguy, it looks like you were trying to take the piss and it got a whole lot more serious than you intended. Rather than trying to justify your posts you should simply admit you've done something wrong and appologise.

I'm sure JSG did not intend to make Sixpackback's mates and wife worried.

Sure if JSG intended to repeatedly make false reports of people binning, it would be reason to ban him from the site.
But I think this is a one-off occurance and hopefully JSG will realise and admit his mistake. Maybe sin-binning him for a while is a just punishment. I don't think all the threats of physical violence were necessary.

I'm not supporting what he did - at all. But stop for a bit, put on some neutral shades and try to understand. It's kinda like our personal 911 in a way. It was a big bad thing that no-one could advocate... but it happened for a reason...

JSG did bad - that's true. JSG shoudl apologise too, and be sin binned in my opinion. But if needs help he should get help. From us.

We are the ones that know him best, warts and all. If we're not big enough to sort this out then we have some growing up to do too.

And don't take it out on Spank or KB or the Site or... we're a community in here, and splitting over an issue like this is the best way to start competing factions that end up evolving in different directions yada yada yada.

Just for the record .I have on a couple of occassions rung JSG and spent alot of time talking to him late at night to keep the peace,and qkchk will vouch for this to keep it out of the threads instead of getting pissed off with him on line.I have had enough He does not listen he does not think.This ride was our organised ride with which we have been doing for about a year,(qkchk/custard) and he decided to fuck around with it and the people who come on it in a nasty thoughtless vindictive way.We donot wish to see him again.We have both warned him on lotsa occasions how dum are you? After reading the posts made by JSG I just have to say......what a cock.
Fact of the matter is that it could have been anything but a joke considering his riding style. I for one was almost taken out by him on a thursday night ride a couple of times in fact. I dont take KB as serious as some of the others do (inlinefour) & I do a fair bit of pisstaking and hassling but its never with malice or intent. There is a line not to be crossed and JSG has crossed it at warp speed. Riders binning and hurting themselves seriously is something we bikers have to live with and hope never happens to us or our companions. So when a little scuzz bucket makes a comment like that he can expect whatever is coming to him. I can only imagine how those close to SPB must have felt when they first heard. You are pathetic

Hate to see people leave, do their own thing or not want anything to do with KB again. I for one appreciate everyone I have met and have learnt lots from this site. There are many I still would like to meet, including the Thursday night crew.

It's sad, when wrong things are said and very hurtful to those concerned. I have no idea what has driven the person concerned to these levels. All I can say that. is that we are family and in every family, problems do occur and things have to be done to sort those problems out. At times, sure, there are irreconcilible differences and sometimes, it can be better to see a parting of the way.

Not having been involved in any of this, I would like to see restoration and perhaps a level of trust built up again. Right now, this can only start through one person and you know who you are.

Peace be with you all. I hope and trust things get worked out.

For what it may be worth, I agree with Messrs Paul in NZ, Man Down Under, Beyond, et al.

A foolish and thoughtless deed, but one of vanity and silliness, not malice, I think. I note that it was not Mr JustsomeGuy who phoned Mrs Sixpackback, though he ought to have realised the likelihood that smeone would do so.

For various reasons I choose to very seldom go on KB rides. I am aware that there is a long standing problem with mr JustSomeGuys riding on such rides. One of the few KB rides I have been on was the recent "250cc" ride. JSG was along on that, and I paid particular note to the riding of all the other riders. I did not notice any problems with JSGs riding, and I did not hear any complaints about him. There was one rider I had concerns about but it was not JSG. I do not know if there was a reason for the difference in his riding behaviour on that occassion, but I have to say that based on that very small example I have no problems with his riding and would ride with him in the future.

The fake post was simply stupid , thoughtless, inconsiderate and childish.

I wonder if that is the first time that ayone on this site has been stupid thoughtless inconsiderate or childish?

JSG has been such a target. He has responded inappropriately, but possibly understandably. Endeavouring to match wits with fucktards can have a lowest-common-denominator effect for the inexperienced amongst us. That is part of what has happened here.

JSG's "apology" is arguably well intentioned, but misdirected. In my opinion, neither SPB or his wife are owed an apology. Any apology would be better directed at other members who have been offended by what was posted. I am somewhat aghast at the mob feeding frenzy of members baying for blood. I mean to say, really. There are also dangers in extrapolating one's own anger and beliefs as a proxy for what you believe others should feel.

Unlike the wild west of other Internet forums, Kiwi Biker is a community of like-minded folk who actually interact in the off-line world. Consequently much of the banter that characterises other forums is entirely inappropriate here. While many of us have on-line "handles", most know who we really are. We need to be appropriately respectful of each other, our differing ages, backgrounds and world views.

Any sin-binning meted out by moderators should be respected by all, and used by people as a cooling-off period. Some of you may never forgive JSG. That is your choice. But be mindful of Jim2's earlier post about sowing and reaping.

How would you handle someone whom routinely endangers other riders, and persistently consistently will not listen to reason or advice from some very experienced riders?

No I am NOT talking abuse, a LOT of people have tried hard to help the guy in a calm rational manner. I know you are not here and can not see, but the abuse you see here really is a last resort by many.

I think some people who are replying to this thread do not understand where the emotion from some people is coming from. Objectivity tells us that JSG made up a story, played us along when questioned and then when people finally knew for themselves the trurth, he admited it too.

However, much of the anger manifests from his later two posts which display his character arrogance about important issues. I cannot see any remorse or otherwise in his "explanation" posts and it just puts emphasis on why people don't like riding with him - his attitude.

JSG did not come on the 250cc ride.

Despite personally seeing him come close to being clipped by on coming traffic, strange over taking of vehicles, over taking of myself on the inside around blind right hand corners... not to mention the countless times myself and others have seen him almost crash into other riders... It never worried to the point where I didn't like JSG as a person. However, on each occasion, if something is said to him about an incident you get an attitude back. You just ignore it and move on. Its his life.

But when he directly fucks with someone elses life and we get the attitude. Its hard to ignore and you don't move on as easily. Its someone elses life who you may care about.

And sure it was a piss take, even I figured that one and took his comments with a grain of salt. But he posted afterwards confirming and elaborating on what supposedly happened. It wasn't until MadDuck confirmed he was full of shit that the truth came out (from him atleast).

I don't know what he deserves, but he deserves something.

Violence can be a waste of time, bruises heal within a month. Broken bones 6 - 8 weeks depending. I'm not advocating it, but for some people its their way of communicating.

Refusing to ride with him is not always practical. It should not be that 6 people wont attend a ride because of one, really it make more sense for the one not to come. Yet he still does, so he gets shit, on line/off line makes no difference. Custard SPB et al give him shit either way.

Ratting to the cops is not going to happen.
No one rats... do they? Surely not.
You are not going to get a bunch of bikers going to the cop shop tittle tattling about another biker. Time, Energy, not to mention the hypocrisy, let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Naming and shaming, well this has been happening, he isn't self aware obviously.

To make the principle of this issue clearer:

JSG often endangers his own life while riding and occasionally that involves adding risk to another rider.

This annoys many people, but some accept it and are aware, they take measures to ensure they're not at additional risk.

JSG makes his comments and PLAYS people along about the bullshit incident.

He has now officially fucked with another persons life.

That is the principle.

His mistake was that so many people care/respect the persons life he fucked with.

No one has previously given a flying fuck when this type of attitude has been brought up in the past, particularly in the case of Paul in NZ, and to a certain extent me when I got fucked off (and still do) at people's attitude to issues personal to me. Now that it affects one of the the people that has no problem slinging name calling and aggressive behaviour in anyone's direction, it's suddenly a big deal?

I've ranted about people's inability to differentiate between a typical globally dispersed Internet forum, and a site that is both local and REAL as opposed to virtual only. I like meeting KBers, going on rides, and learning about them and the places they ride. It's way better than the virtual existence a bike mag brings, and far greater in scope than the bike clubs one had to organise even 15 years ago to have any sort of social aspect to motorcycling.

Every time I bring this issue up, I get told to harden up, largely from a cadre of dedicated shit stirrers.

JSG stepped over a line BIG TIME.

But.

He did something I've never, ever seen one of the shit stirrers do.

He apologised.

On another issue, Hitcher is right! You guys threatening physical punishment to JSG are risking your freedom. By all means own your strong opinions and emotions, but don't let them carry you to a place of regret. Jim2 - I think you have to realise that there is more to this than shit-stirring. JSG has been a liability to a lot of riders and made a lot of people feel uncomfortable about going on KB rides. SPB has tried to talk to him about it in the past and it has become a shit fight. All of that I have no problem with, as long as he doesn't ride near me.

The fact that he actually posted that he had run someone, a good mate of a lot of us, off the road and said the guy was taken off in an ambo is pretty sick. I don't know what happened re Mrs SPB being incorrectly informed but I can imagine it would have caused her and her daughter a lot of distress if/when they could not verify SPB's safety.

His attitude to the whole affair is arrogant and ridiculous and this is situation is not comparable to a difference of opinion in matters which are personal to some.

BTW, Finn you have got to be the funniest homosexual I have ever met. Better than Barrymore.

To make the principle of this issue clearer:

JSG often endangers his own life while riding and occasionally that involves adding risk to another rider.

This annoys many people, but some accept it and are aware, they take measures to ensure they're not at additional risk.

JSG makes his comments and PLAYS people along about the bullshit incident.

He has now officially fucked with another persons life.

That is the principle.

His mistake was that so many people care/respect the persons life he fucked with.

While I have seen JSG do some stupid stuff on rides, I'm sure it happens no more/less frequently than many others. I'm wondering if its more to do with everyone's opinion of him, expecting him to stuff up so you are more likely to notice when he does.

What he did in regards to SPB is really low, but I can sort of see why he did it. The amount of shit that has been slung his way from SPB/others while some of it valid, alot of it just comes down to him being an easy target.

Why so. A ride's not a public thing. ie if the six people don't want him along, they just tell him so. If he insists on tagging along (can't imagine anyone would) then it's 6 to 1. No need for violence, just take his keys. Sorted. But I'd be very surprised if that were necessary.

BTW, if he WERE that determined to tag along, how is banning him from the site going to stop him? You can only ban someone from posting, almost impossible without MAJOR changes to the philosophy of the site, to ban them from reading.

A ride may/may not be public, however the roads are.

Believe me, there are a lot of things about JSG you just can not imagine.

Banning from the site will possibly send a message to JSG (though as I pointed out previously his ability to take clue is severly hampered) but may also assist other riders should they choose to ignore the sound reasoned advice of their peers.

Stopping him from rides now should largely be pointless. It would truely be a wonder if he wanted attend the Sunday ride up north to meet up with Custard and TL Rider in the forest. Could be interesting though.
