View Full Version : Bryce is a c**t

I emailed Bryce at Bucket's and Bits in the Hutt the other day, asking if he had a radiator for an RG150. He said yes, $45. I thought cool, so got a lift up from Wellington CBD in my lunchtime to go and pick it up.

When I got there, he asked if I bought the bike from someone called Gavin, I said no I got it from someone else. He then went on to say that the bike "should have been his" and he got some bad feedback on trademe, and because of this he was going to fuck with everyone associated with the bike and he wasn't going to sell me any parts!

Whatever he was on about - I have no idea, but it doesn't really sound like a good way to do business. How the fuck would i be supposed to know (and why should I care) what happened between this fuckwit and some other random dude in the past?

Now I could understand that if I fucked him over in the past then he'd not want to deal with me again. But to say that he won't deal with me because someone else sold a bike to someone who sold it to me and he got upset somewhere along the way strikes me as an attitude of a 4 year old.

I've checked out trademe and there is no bad feedback against buckets_n_bits that could have anything to do with this.

I've never dealt with buckets'n'bits before and after this, I never will again - it's not worth the abuse. It wasn't just the fact that he wouldn't sell me anything - it was the attitude.

So in the words of the man himself "Let everyone know I'm a cunt" (yes he said it) so here you go, I've done my bit and passed the message on.

So I'm still looking for a radiator that'll fit an RG. Anyone?

I have a spare radiator for my KR if you want to borrow it to get her going?
Could make it fit with a bit of tinkering.

Have tried dealing with them in the past but they are never there or answer their phones. My mate rode his bike all the way from town to paraparam and when he pulled up the guy was just getting in his car and told my mate that he was closed and to come back. My mate had rung them only an hour earlier to confirm that they had the part he wanted and there opening hours so he was very much less than impressed...

svs
5th May 2006, 14:40
that would be cool RR, but if it needs a bit of tinkering, would it still be in a state that I could get it back to you in? I'll try and find a suzuki one first.

I had an instance with them in trying to find a couple of parts for the CBR and also a mates CR500. He wasn't interested until I started mentioning big bucks.....

After a while he got better, but their initial attitude sucked

svs
5th May 2006, 14:44
Even with them not answering the phone, or replying to messages, I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. I still don't know how he figured out which bike it was. It's not like I gave him the rego or anything - I just said it was a 98 RG150. just wasn't prepared for that sort of response when I'm trying to give him money.

I have hadnothing but positive service when dealing with Buckets 'n' Bits. They seem a whole lot nicer on the phone than how Spence from the North Shore has treated me in the past.

I've emailed buckets 'n' bits and they have replied inside of that working day everytime.
You probably just caught them on a Monday, which happens to be the day that most people die of stress-related causes (Sad, Strange but True).

I priced a part a month ago and was surprised to learn that the second hand part I was offered was only 20% cheaper than a genuine new part. Needless to say I bought the new one. I admire the tenacity of the guy though, My guess is that he ain't getting rich out of it.

Could be me you are talking about Helen?? If not exactly the same thing happened to me TWICE. First time it was still 45 mins from closing time but he told me it was a slow day so he went home despite me telling him I was on my way!!!! It did take me a while 'cos I got lost (snot that easy to find if you stuff up and get off the motorway on the wrong exit)

Second time I called from my cellphone to confirm they were still open and he nearly ran me down in the driveway. Bloody good job he kept going at the time but I guess he just never saw me! Sure seemed keen to get outta there!!

Funny thing is, I went home and bought the same part over the phone from a competitors place using my VISA and got treated like royalty. Know where I shop for my secondhand stuff from now on! Oh well...

Each to there own and a ride on me bike is better than no ride so ....

small business owners/operators can be funny buggers, its unfortunate you wasted your time travelling there in all, but at the end of the day $45 bucks will make no difference to im, and he probably feels he got something back for whatever that got up his arse,if his profit margin falls he'll just put his prices up,he prolly does more mail order business than walk in customers anyway, the reason some people start small business is so that they are in control and or lifestyle choice, i think bucketts n bits have been going for a few years now so he must be doing something right, anyways buy a triumph and youll never need to deal with him again

Since I didn't get a coherent version out of bryce, here's what happened.

Once upon a time there was a poor broken RG for sale on trademe.

Mr X went to have a look at the bike and said he'd buy it. Mr Y (the seller) wanted to do thing properly and get some feedback through trademe so he said he'd offer it to Mr X through tm rather than just pulling the auction, and when Mr X got home all he'd have to do, was click on the button and everything would be sweet.

Unfortuantely Mr Y made a slight mistake and instead of offering it just to Mr X, he accidently offered it to all watchers. Bryce pounced on the offer.

Mr Y emailed Bryce saying he'd made a mistake, and the bike was already sold.

Bryce started threatening legal action, saying it was "his bike".

Mr X got bike, heard about the commotion, and even offered it to Bryce for the price he'd paid for it! Bryce refused, preferring to go after Mr Y.

Time passed, Mr X didn't have time or money to fix bike and so I ended up buying it.

And now Bryce is taking it out on me. What an arse.

My experiences with Buckets n Bits have been all good.

On my first visit I walked in there looking for a few parts to tidy up my rat. The owner (I presume this was Bryce) was very helpful, quickly diagnosed an electrical problem that I happened to mention, fixed it for me free of charge, told me he didn't have the other things I was looking for but gave me his current copy of Motorcycle Trader to take away in the hope I could find somebody else who was wrecking my model bike.

The second time I had seen something he had listed on tardme I was interested in, had a look at it, it was not what I wanted, he showed me a few alternative solutions and offered a few bits of advice that I found very helpful.

Over all I found him to be quite helpful and friendly, we shared a joke or two, and I would certainly go back without a second thought except that now I have sold the rat and bought an HD I don't really have a reason to.

Dont think I'd go that far. I have said get fucked, but only because people want the whole world, for next to nothing.

I've dealt with them a couple of times, found them kinda polite and a little slow on the service but nothing like what you copped.

Shit I didnt know customer service like that existed.

I'm a small business and I agree, we're all weirdos!
There seems to be a misconception here, Bryce runs a pretty damn big business, his stock list is enormous, and from what I can gather, he would still do just fine if he never dealt with the public at all. He mostly buys bikes and then sends bits all round the country to other wrekers.
This thread wont dent his pocket at all.
Still think him to be the afore mentioned reproductive region, but he's almost always got the parts I'm after.

Had both good and bad service from them. Yeah, he is a prick, but a very knowledgable prick with the bits we need to fix our bikes.
Have a good bad/ratio of about 2:1. Anyone else done any better than that?

Too expensive for me, they wanted $80 for scratched two stroke cans :nono:
Just got a pair for free from RP racing. "Remnants" is really good though, cheapest, normal people and they send you pretty hi res photos of the part :first:

So I called up Bryce to see what all this dribble is about. Seams it all comes from TM Auction 46856934 where he won this auction on offerback, but Jeremy Poopusher aka “azkika” seeing it had been accepted by someone raced around there passed over the money and took the bike. When confronted Jeremy admitted to this wrong doing and agreed to take the bike to Bryce and sort things out with some parts and cash, but this never happened. Next Jeremy’s queer mate “svs” and his gay lover “Daveyboy” come in trying to buy radiator for said bike. He refused to supply them as the bike is rightfully his. There is too much of this underhanded shit going on at TM, is he so wrong to take a stand. Next time you get fucked over on a TM deal, smile and take it, don’t be angry like Bryce.

Interesting that the name calling comes from a bloke who loudly derides KB as being a haven for "dicks".

I don't actually care about the details. Bryce made my wife (pregnant at the time, and dragging a toddler round with her) wait for an hour an 40 minutes after ringing to say she was coming down to collect a tyre for me. He shuffled about the yard and vanished for the hour, only to produce the tyre from behind the counter. He then said, "I knew it was there but I had stuff I had to do."

Before I get lectured about sending a woman (pregnant) and child to do a man's job, my wife an I actually like each other and do things for each other. We don;t have any weird rules about "my space, your space", or "my money, her money". I searched for the tyre off the website, prepaid, rang to make sure it would be at the counter, and my wife offered to pick it up because I work in Wellington. She then rang to make sure someone was there and went straight there, about 20 minutes from our house. It took him 40 minutes to respond to being hailed.

Prove that svs knows this azkika dude, and colluded to rip Bryce off. It sounds like azkika is the guy that caused the problem, and you're now hurling allegations at someone I know is a straight up person, who actually values client contact.

For every anecdotal piece of information you dig up about svs I can give you 10 customers who've been treated like scum by Bryce.

If you jerk people round they will talk about it. The only thing going for Bryce is that F5Dave sticks up for him. If Bryce was half the bloke that F5Dave is, he'd do a damned site better in the word of mouth stakes.

Good to see you're getting involved, and I can understand being pissed off. I would be had the same underhanded trade happened to me.

But surely the guy needs some better business manners? Being down right rude to paying customers is just not right.

Sounds to me like there's two Bryces at Buckets and Bits.

I've always had great service there, parts ready when I needed them, and good advice too...

I guess he's one to wear his heart on his sleeve.

I guess he's one to wear his heart on his sleeve.

Hey I can't argue with that mate. I can be a bit that way myself but both times I've tried to buy stuff off him he would not have known me from a bar of soap? Never actually met the guy, just talked to him (and then he magically disappeared when I got there) and nearly been run over by him (didn't quite managed to disappear in time??)

His business, his call how he wants to run it. Lord knows it's a tough one to be in so he is certainly entitled to be as wierd as he wants to be but I can't buy stuff if I can't find the guy to give the cash too... simple... I found a guy that wanted my cash and he got the deal. I guess he wanted my business more. I doubt bryce is loosing any sleep over it and I'm sure not...

Ok. I can understand his side of the story. However, it's not what I heard from Jeremy. 2 sides 2 different stories.

When I bought the bike from jeremy, I had no idea about what problems occured in the the past. I had, and still haven't, got any intention of ripping anyone off. There is no conspiracy. All I was after is repairing a cheap bike for a streetstock racer. If I was trying to rip anyone off, do you think I would have walked up there, been open and up front about where I got the bike from and still asked for parts?

If there was a problem with the way trademe works, then surely Bryce should go through the official channels there? rather than taking his issues out on a subsequent owner of the bike? What happens when/if I sell the bike? Will everyone else be tarred with the same brush.

The whole point about this thread was that Bryce wanted me to tell people that he was a ****. I think it's done that. I'll move on, and I don't really care if Bryce does or not.
