anywhere but pay to have plainly visible for the praking nazis
for WOF I have just stuck it inside the screen before with no hassles, currently both the Reg and Wof attach to the Number plate
For mounting my Rego, ask at the Post shop when getting the sticker for the double sided tape. Then you can stick it anywhere.

my WOF and rego are attached behind my Licence plate (one on each bolt), and I've had no problems, even though it's really hard to see them.. [rego in pic]
one that i have seen though, is the rego mounted near the chain guard on a Hyosung GT250R

I have mine on the chain side of the swingarm.
As people have said, as long as it is visible...
You can see from my profile piccy, all I have on the arse is the plate.

I keep mine under the pillion seat with the tool kit and pouch for the disc lock. Makes it look tidier. Does tend to create problems with the parking nazis, but oh well..

I have seen some people who allow the wof to cover the plate therefore not ruining the lines and making it a little harder to read but no hassles from the praking nazis

Both attached to back of numberplate. Actually asked the bike shop several weeks ago what the ruling was because you use to be able to keep WOF's under your seat, to stop them been nicked all the time. I prefer the old Rego stickers because they were highly visual and besides if they cant see your reg, its more likely they have an excuse to pull you over to check it? Make sense?
I like to have rego and WoF prominently visible for the same reason. No point in inviting attention.
If you do a bit of riding around town and do have to park your bike in areas where the lovely parking wardens are working, then it will pay to have it fairly visible.
I don't ride around town and so I normally mount them behind the number plate.
WOF in wallet.
Reg sticker/bracket thingy on inside of r/h pillion peg.
Keeps the back end tidier
