Firstly no am not an experience rider at all..
never even been on a bike in my life.
Besides for when i was in red baron i did sit on the bike while in the showroom, while dreaming...
guess that counts for something right??
Will be going to John Wrights Driving School either this weeekend or the next, depending on how leave from work goes....

What size are you physically (height weight?) what type of bike are you after? (cruiser or sprot?) I suggest you go talk to Dallas at Colemans. Tell him exactly what position you're in (lisence-wise) and he'll help you out. click on this link (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=3297) to read up on buying a used bike.
Also click here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=747) for some site question stuff you might have.

I did go into Colemnans Suzuki first,
spoke to guy "sarge", who didn't seem that intrested at all.
but then again. he had just one bike that was in the category of 250CC and under, he too recommendded John Wrigth as a driving instructor and that was that..
I'm 5ft 9in weighing in at 82 kgs..
am after a sports styled bike... always loved e'm.

You could do well on a KR150(Kawasaki), RGV150 (here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/trader.php?do=showad&postid=606442),250, GSX250 (Suzuki), GT250 (Hyosung) CBR250 (Honda) There's a CBR for sale on here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=28521) actually... There's so many to choose from!

Ever been to circus where you see these clowns riding 5 incle cycles, those that shuold only be used as a show piece on the mantle??
thats what i'd look like on the 150cc bikes...
not a pertty picture..
hence why i decided to go with a 250cc
Welcome to KB. Good luck choosing a bike, there are so many to choose from. I started out on a GSX250, was a solid reliable bike. Not the fastest thing on two wheels, but was good to learn on (wont scare yourself), and it is big, so a) you wont look like a clown (well I don't know, you may already look like a clown :)) and b) gets you use to a bigger bike for when you upgrade.

Good little bike I thought. I had one for my learners, and a bit of the restricted. They have enough power for you to break the law, but not quite enough to get you into trouble too quickly. Also, the lack of power compared to the cbr and zxr makes it easier in the wet.
You can ride a zzr250 to and perhaps slightly beyond its limits once you have been riding for a few months. Also, I found mine to move around a bit (then again, weigh around 100kg) in the corners, so instead of getting used to a perfect handling bike, you get used to having to work the bike a bit.
Just watch out if you crash it. The bike may have been made, with barely any changes for around 14 years I think, but parts cost a shitload. The one I remember is indicators. One solid unit, first thing usually to get broken in an off, and $71 each :gob:

I managed to get myself a 2005 gsx, it's great at handling and it does look like a bigger bike. My mates Hyosung gt250r is the same in that respect, If you took away the markings people stuck inside 4 wheeled (and aiming for you all the time) wouldn't be able to tell.
