I once caught a couple of youths trying to steal my bike in the UK - both ended up in the cop station shortly thereafter. They were underage, had been caught thus many times before (obviously as dumb as $hite), I had done my part, but they were promptly released with a slap on the wrist etc.

I like to look at bikes parked here and there but never get too close to them -- in case the owner is looking on. You need to respect a man's ride etc.

All bikers should work together - if you see someone nosying too close to a bike, any bike, give them a good stare and ask if you can help them. Even if it is not your bike, act as though - it might be. I have done this a few times and well, you never know, maybe I thwarted a potential thief. Let them know 'it' is not easy game and they'll move warily on. (The way an interested biker looks at a bike is quite different to a non-biker type).

Normally the owner would have the right equipment.. i.e. Key, helmet, normally a jacket, boots etc.

think its a good idea, ya never know when someone else does it for you and saves your precious ride. Cheers

Totally agree with yer, bike thieves are the lowest kind of scum and the community needs to pull together to make sure they don't get away with it.
