I cannot believe this!!!

http://www.gisborneherald.co.nz/article.asp?aid=4895&iid=409&sud=27

"Atareta Poananga commented she had found a lot of male drivers got on her bumper while travelling through the gorge, pressuring her to go faster.

"They have to pass everything in sight. It’s a real worry.""

This is the problem, people will not pull over when holding up traffic!

Why don't they put money into passing lanes.. fucking homo's!

Ups to the copuncillors though, for not following the Transit line like blind mice.

A national 80 km/h limit by stealth. Remember you read it here first.

That's Gisbornes problem, why should I care.... (pt)

Yep, the 80km/hr movement is taking hold. Watch out. Another thing I find interesting is

From 1999 to 2004 there were 80 accidents, including 11 fatal and eight serious accidents. Loss of control was generally a factor, as well as driving too fast for the conditions, poor observation, handling judgement and fatigue.

Of the drivers involved, 70 percent were male.
Of all the hours driven on this piece of road, what percentage are done by males? Probably about 70%. Whoever wrote this has a serious case of smegma.

Its a bloody conspiracy, 80KM/H zones coming your way soon.

If you cant take a corner at more than the posted limit, or require a sign to tell you how fast to corner, you should not be allowed to drive or ride.
100kph is bloody slow enought as it fricken is.
But that seems to be the Aotearoa way...listen to the one person who feels victimised or scared, and bugger the rest.

I don't think Atareta Poananga has ever been scared or victimised in her life. Probably the opposite.
The wonder is that she hasn't blamed speeding as a colonialist ploy to decimate the indigenous races.

The latest.
After a fatal on SH1 at Dunnydun, Transhit NZ say they are considering an 80 km/h speed limit in the area.
The fact that a ute driver pulled out to pass a stopping vehicle and into the path of a truck seems to have escaped them.
Could they introduce an IQ limit for drivers?

EXACTLY the same thing happened in that costal road near wellington whose name I forget

Some silly person overtook on double yellow lines, had a head on, so LTNZ put in 80kmh limit AND a speed cam.... oh boy can you imagine the uproar???

There was a lot of opposition from people who realised 80ks doesn't stop you overtaking on double yellow lines; "Ummm why don't you put in a barrier instead" was heard many times but to no avail.

SO don't forget ladies and gentlemen

drivetotheconditionsiftheychange increase your speed!

Herein lies the real problem! Nobody seems to want to release the statistics as to the precentage of accidents caused by speeding. Most accidents I would wager, are caused by incompetence or innattention. Ralph Nader's book, "Unsafe At Any Speed" doesn't just apply to cars!

Yep that'll be 80 too...

I note that if you check the link to the Gisborne paper in the first post on this thread there is a poll on whether the limit should be lowered. Currently it's 50/50 even. Exercise your digit and vote guys (and ladies).
