Hey people!
My bike insurance (with Swan) will be expiring very soon, I took out insurance when I bought the bike. Speaking to them this arvie, I was told to go to a bike shop to set-up again...?
What other insurances are there and what is the procedure to follow.
The reason for my ignorance on the subject is that I am a "new Kiwi", ex SAfrican...

Thanx
Al :not:

I have had insurance arrangements through a local broker (a placement with NZI) and, more latterly, through the Honda Riders Club group scheme. I have just re-done my bike insurances as a consequence of some new bikes. Honda Riders Club was by far the least expensive option. They place through Vero. Neither of my new bikes are Hondas but I have remained a club member and can remain in the insurance scheme - at a minimal cost. My current covers are comprehensive, named rider policies with an average deductible. HRC has also given very good service.

Uffman,

I'm with Vero. Dave Golightly is the man to speak to. I've got some sort of deal through the Honda Riders' Club but Vero witll insure anything I guess. Dave's on 03 357 2428. I don't know if I've got a good deal other than knowing it is a hell of a lot cheaper than in the UK!

I use AMI and they seem reasonable and good service. Switched from State Insurance after 12+ years without any claims because they wouldn't consider lowering my excess and AMI checked my history and immediately offered a lower excess and premium.
ps- my claim before that with State was bike stolen, hardly my fault.

??? That seems strange. I've been with Swann for 5 yrs, had no probs and they are cheaper than anyone else Ive tried, which I do once a year.

Hi

I have just had prices for my 85 Virago 1000 and swan were by far the cheapest, also the only one that offered monthly payments if it suited us...

I'd recommend Dave Golightly with Vero... trumped the next best for full comprehensive on my GSXR by over $500.

Same here...... when I brought the 1100 Guzzi I was with AMI always had been with max no claims bonis (60%) they were $1200 were as DG @ Vero was $420....... thats a bloody big difference.
However the price has slowely gone up over the last year or two but then I spose so have the others.

No problems - just click on that "search" (type in the subject) link in between "new posts" and "quick links" at the top of the page. :niceone:

You've got a good deal!!! :shit:

CALL DAVE!!!! It's very worth your while! :niceone:

I just hopped off the phone from him now & he's doing my CBR6 at $8000 for about $460 which is several hundred cheaper than my current policy with Swann on which I have full NCB. Stunned and amazed? You betcha! $700 excess for an accident and $1000 excess if it's stolen. And you can pay monthly with no extra fees ie, your premium divided by 12 is what you pay monthly, no extra accounting/processing fees like most other companies. :)

Weren't you about to buy a new scoot at one point a while back?

Oh yes, and that's a *very* good insurance deal.

Yes. Incredibly tempted by a Triumph Daytona 600 & I would still love to get one, but decided to get rid of my debt (now down to under $5000 :D ) and get out of shiftwork next year hopefully.

I know. :D

Spoke to the good people at Vero, apparently SI insurance is way cheaper than Auckland, but got fixed up very nicely... Swann quoted $777-00, Vero was $445-00! Found out that they also give discount to RSA members.
Will also look at changing house and contents over to them soon.

Thanx again for the advice and contacts
