amps have added a Daytona 675 to the demo fleet - AFIK they are taking forward orders you would have to talk to them about availability - i dunno - what I do know is i rode it this afternoon and have done the KR quick spin article on it.

Short version: it goes as good as it looks. Sounds it too. Quite stunning.

looks pretty mint in the first pic dave, you alluding to it being a bit of a rebel/street kid natured bike?

how do you get bikes to these locations and keep them so clean?

It's standard for the type. Lots of weight on the wrists and my legs are folded up.

Slightly more comfortable than it looks - Comfortable is my Buell, a ST1300 or a Road King. A 600 super sports has different agendas.

Yep - it's all hooligan I reckon.

There is a Mercedes advert where the Dali Lama keeps his car from bug splats by using the car's great handling and swerving to avoid hitting the insects as he drives along.

The Dali Dave......(OK, the camera lies)

I didn't get to wring its neck - only rode on the road, but what I have read is that it compares very favourably with anything. maybe not as terminal fast - but the triple has excellent character getting there.

yeah, sorry if I sounded like a smart arse, (but i am).

Waylander was working on 'accolite' - but i think he blew it on the dress code.
Are you prepared to renounce colour and dress only in black?

Already wearing my HJC tattoo (black) and full black kit, did I mention my bike is being painted black? :headbang:

You keep telling people that's what did it - someone will believe you eventually.

Did you get a chance to wring it out a bit? The bike that is....

Not even slightly. But you won't care.
It has lots more torque from low revs than any 600, and around the same top end. So you don't have to tapdance on the shift to get anywhere.

A mate of mine was real keen to buy the Triumph 675 but found it was too tall for him so I believe he's bought a Triumph Thruxton - He's a little Dave. Not told me about this either information came second hand.

Well, it looks like they have designed it to be "surprisingly" quick. After all, look at the seat, they've even put a little channel in it for when you sh*t yourself . . .

New wallpaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fuck i love that bike..... how much are they going for, Im sure holeshot had one sitting in thier window next to the 995 but it seems to have dissapeared. Read a review on them a while ago but it didnt seem very thought out. Perhaps you could bang one out BD

I've got to be honest, I really don't like the look of the 675.

At first I thought it looked fairly sharp, but after seeing it in magazine shots and in the flesh it has just dated already. It looks anaemic, too thin, the colours are boring, the front fairing looks like it should be an inch or so higher, the lights are horrible and it looks too tall.

I know I'm in a minority here and it gives everyone else a hard on, or wide on should that be the case, but it is just an uninspiring looking motorcycle.

Mind you, I'm still gonna try and get a ride on it.

They are all pre-sold. i reckon AMPS would have bought this one themselves.
I have done a report- but I'll run it out in Kiwi Rider first.
Book a demo ride and sus it for yourself?

Why would you want to ride such a crap bike?

The_Dover
17th May 2006, 11:25
I never said it was a crap bike, just that it was ugly and will age quickly.

I'm already sick of seeing it's slanty eyes peering at me from the pages of bike magazines, a bit like walking down Queen St.

I'd still like to ride it and see what all the fuss is about, especially after the yanks rated it top of the supersport pack.

Especially if they can get the weight down to 150kg's or thereabouts.

The first shipment was cleaned out but I only know of one around Wellytown and no 'active' KBers seem to have latched on to one yet. I say active because the one sold here went to a bloke who hasn't been on KB for a couple of years, I think. But he was good enough to let me take it for a short spin. The 675 looks so narrow following it. It felt bloody cool to ride.
The performance (first short impression only OK) seemed too close to that of my 636 to tempt me to change right now but I'll be watching what Pete thinks of his over the coming months.
There's a lot of appeal to owning something non-jappo once in a while.
