Well it looks like we finally might get a film for us to be proud of *.

Judging by the info in the link, it might not be Hollybutchered and be kept reasonable close to what Steve was after.

BTW I have the article in a word doc if the reg-free link stops working.

Summary is it's Steve McQueen's "vanity" screen play (as the article puts it). It's the movie he wanted to make. Think Le Mans with it's minimal dialogue (one of my favourite films btw), crossed with Great Escape and the chase scenes of Bullit. All set in the Mexico desert with motorbikes. Add a bit of history and naturalism/anthropolgy from the heart.

If they really stay true to Steve's manuscript it's going to be one hell of a film.

I also hope they one day realease the notebooks to be published. I'd definitely buy it.

Sorry if this ramble is somewhat incorherent but I've just got home and am somehat drumk.

Here is the last stanza (I'm sure Hitcher will correct me if it's not a stanza, but it was the only poetic term I can remember at this exact moment in time) from Steve McQueens dream project "Yucatan".

He was parting the curtains on tomorrow
A commando on the liquid frontier...
The inheritors of that emerald planet
That jewel on the finger of the firmament
Ringed by its creator with sapphire seas
For the exaltation and the ultimate salvation of the Dominion of Man.

* - Yes I do know of the few films that have featured motorbikes that have been good.

After that incoherent build up I forgot to add the link...
