Wednesday night at the Dunstan Pub in Clyde is Toss the Boss. That's where you order your beer, the barmaid (gorgeous looking bird) tosses a coin, and if you call correctly then your beer is free.

Well tonight on my way in to the pub I noticed a guy on a dirt bike heading down a track at high speed. I know that the track meets the road not too far ahead, and it doesn't look like he is going to stop. Just as well I'm a biker too and realise what was likely to happen, because as I rounded the bend he shot straight out onto the road only meters ahead of my 4x4. I managed to slow down enough to avoid him, but I'm sure he didn't see me.

The rider was on a 2 stroke dirt bike, and I followed him for around 1-2 kms on the road before he finally decided to have a look and see if anyone was behind him. I do believe that was the first time he was aware that there was any other traffic on the road. He quickly turned off the main road and headed up the Waikerikeri valley road, but as I know all the farmers up that road I'm sure it wasn't where he's from.

He was wearing a helmet, gloves and boots, but no other riding gear. The biker had no lights and it was just about dark, and wasn't displaying a number plate.

Its idiots like this that give all of bikers a bad name with the motoring public. :Oi:

I get that quite a bit too.. riding around delivering mail, i've seen 2 bikers so far (both on 2 stroke farm bikes) pulling wheelies and tearing up and down the streets without helmets or anything.. it's just stupid..

that's like the guy across the road from me, where he brought a dirt bike with no intercaters and plates, go out down the road behind some old folks homes starts practising on there lawn when all sudden big maori guy tells him to piss off.
If he needs to go to any other location u need trailer or van to transport, which he has'nt given any thought.
Prior to this he show me his bike, try starting, did'nt know where choke was untill i showed him, then finial he gets it going - revives the shit out of it and then starts shouting, it's loud is'nt it, i looked up at ceiling & thought my god.

It's been happening since bikes were invented - they are a magnet for stupidity.....why do you think we all have them?

Right on Motu. I and many others started out like above, and if you dont have someone to show you the ropes then yeah you tend to make a lot of mistakes and do a lot of dangerous riding. A good crash will knock some sense into him pretty quick, just hope its not too serious

Jantar, the boys in blue are always getting complaints about guys like that up your way, especially around Clyde.
