The New Zealand police force are recruiting for intelligence officers – and not before time if an advertisement is anything to go by.

The ad reprinted in today's New Zealand Herald for an intelligence clerk spells "intelligence" with only one "l". A person "who shows excellent (sic) in communication both oral and written" is required.

With the recent drive for an extra 1000 police officers for the force, let's hope they can find one who can spell.

[Edit:] there really does appear to be a media beat up at the moment....... Even I'm feeling sorry for them....

The Manawatu Standard had a great headline last week - "police desperate to talk to girls" - so, what else is new?

If they are looking for officers with intelligence, this logically means that the officers we have currently are not intelligent...

Go figure.
