What can you do to make your bike sound better ('chunkier'), to lower its pitch? Is buyin a new exhaust pipe the only solution?

A lot depends on what sort of bike, but generally, yes, a new can or can and header is normally required.

I still have standard pipes on the 1400 but the baffles were removed and cut down and reinstalled which makes it sound a lot beefier than standard.

It was done for around $100.00 before i bought it off Colemans so don't know where it was done.

Certainly the cheaper option, as a new can for most bikes, start at around $700.00 and that's just for one.

It sounds like two sexually involved werewolves. Very sexy noise going down Lambton quay or through a tunnel with a fistful.

I ride next to this bike very often, take it from me it sounds like a great belowing howl.

Whats your current exhaust at the moment magg? I got a standard VTZ honda and it has cylindrical baffles laid on top of each other in the exhaust, removing a couple of these and rewelding can make a difference.
Been told the vtz of doom sounds sexy for a standard shitbox. All depends on what tone your going for. Cycleworks makes a legend of a pipe but not cheap.

well there ya have it. (werewolfs huh :blip:)

i doubt pulling baffles out of the gsf's exhaust would do any good though - ever heard one insanity? they just whine sorta.

Carbon cans usually have a lower pitch than metal. If that helps.

The bike has its original exhaust from 92. But i think i will just leave it the way it is. It doesnt sound bad. But i mite have done too much ridin with mates havin big bikes, and then i just wana go and change mine. But until i do my full (hopefuly in 6 months), and be able to get something bigger, my black baby will do fine.

My mate whos a mechanic said i could take the muffler out of the exhaust and that would make it sound better. But when we checked it, it was originaly welded with the pipe, so cant really do anythin with it. Can i?
