View Full Version : ATNR Akl Thurs NIGHT RIDE & Drinks 25th May @ 6.30pm at WESTGATE
Qkchk
24th May 2006, 17:18
Ok Camp Mother and Kitchen bitch are back from invading the mainland! (In short, Qkchk and Qkkid are back home now...):blip: Sorry about the short notice but shit happens and there is only so much time in a day......... if ya get my drift.
What: A ride up north in da dark finishing with a cold one
When: Thursday night after work on the 25th May
Where: Shell WESTGATE (end of the North Western Motorway)
Why: To get your fix for the mid-week blues :nya:
Time: Meeting there from 6.30pm departing @ 7pm
Pace: Open to all (As long as you can ride at least 100kph - not to say that we ride that speed all the time in the dark)
I'm doin the rides not for so much the riding itself (very limited with time and what you can do with it) but the social get-together at the Speights Ale House (Oteha Valley Road, Albany) afterwards. So if you can't make the ride, try and make the pub and meet fellow Kbers! The food is fine and a huge variety of beers to choose from. We are there from 8pm onwards.
The route will be discussed on the night. For those worried about distance/time the ride will last for approx 1hr - 1half and is 70kms long. We start at Westgate and finish up at Albany.
- Remember I dont want to see anyone turn up with a tinted/irridium visor on! Any chance to lessen the risks we take in our riding the better! (If you dont have a clear visor, may I suggest buying/borrowing a pair of clear saftey glasses and keep ya tint visor up....)
- Darkness = Slower speeds (self explained...)
This ride is WEATHER PERMITTING - I will post up in the thread if it is postponed due to weather. I will decide on the day and post after 5pm.:sunny:
Disclaimer: You participate on this ride at your own risk. I will not be held accountable for anyones actions, to/from and during the ride.. Anyone who is caught endangering others by their actions will be asked to leave the ride and may be refused entry to forthcoming rides! (As we have had seen in the past):nono:
Hope you like the colour scheme back ;)

Wet, slippery rocks + running = very sore leg. Fortunately X Rays reveal no fracture, just swelling. I figure seeing as it's my right leg I don't have to do much with that so should be able to ride!

Hope you guys had a good ride.
I still dont have a going bike, I've been slack cos of the weather and all getting it painted still.
Tho it does have a layer of primmer now, requires more sanding :(
Any takes to finish the job for me ?

25th May 2006, 19:59
Mrs Medic put up a reasonbly bulletproof arguement as to why I shouldnt go tonight. I tried to bluff her by saying I would leave, then she handed me a bag with my toothbrush in it. Consequently, I stayed home and now have bath duty for the child.
Well when you have finished with the little one maybe Mrs Medic and you can go next that will make staying at home more fun.

As has already been mentioned, great turn out and as always good company at the pub.
And for the record, I paid for that fucking burger, all $17.50 of it. That equates to 2.57 Mc Chicken Combo's from Mc Donalds.
Tasted bloody great though.

do come again its a great group to ride with matey
Great night, thanks Mr & Mrs Qk!
Much enjoyed the night riding again, good to get the adrenalin rush of screaming through the dark unlit country roads in a group ride, pity a small group got separated at the beginning but pleasing that they rejoined us just before Kaukop. Was a laugh during our stop at Dairy Flat when swanny came around the corner on his relatives *Hyosung Aquila* scraping the footpeg.
Speights Alehouse was good tonight, the pub even shouted us all 2 large plates of wedges & sour cream + more if we wanted it, seems a certain kber had a chat with them and mentioned something about a pub in Wellington shouting its patrons food!? Good on them I say, they recognise the business prospect of a bunch of us turning up there every/most Thurs nights so therefore increase the good service I reckon! Shame the Old Albany didn't do the same - THEIR LOSS.
Until the next ride peeps...
Ps. I think it's just fine & dandy that we only have plates on the rear and not the front hehe! :innocent:

Yes i did see that van,i was good tonight he liked me ,he didn,t flash me !!!!
Keystone19
26th May 2006, 08:53
Well I didn't see the van or orange flashes so either I went a different way or I was being a good girl!
Great to see Frosty at the servo (don't tell pillion but he sneaked out to say hi). Bit hard to hear what he's saying these days though!
Sorry about the *ahem* slight detour some of us took right at the beginning. My bad for not listening to the briefing although in my defence I was following Ninjaneil who obviously didn't listen either! Blackbuell spent all night trying to stop us and tell us to turn around but by the time he did it was too late and we were nearly in Kaukapakapa so decided to keep going.
And my bruised and battered leg was fine on the bike but boy am I paying for it now! I think a day lying on the sofa with my leg up is in order...

Lucky for some!
Found the night group riding hard work. Even on roads I knew. Not being able to leave high-beam on caused me a few problems in the corners because of a wonderful dead-spot with my headlight beams.
Nice to catch up, bit of a change for being a usually unsociable bastard ;)
...I really need to find a bike that doesnt attract males.
