Well before you say,.."norty boy, how fast were you going?" I visited the doc specialist with regards to my epilepsy. They're concerned about a couple of things and have given me the suspension of licence.
Also can't play sport.
Oh,..and no alcohol allowed indefinitely.

So, I've had better days.
Guess I am alive and it could be a lot worse...

Poor ZX-10 will have to sit in the garage with the occasional start-up.

Really sorry to hear, mate! Had a friend and a relative with this problem. Sucks about the licence but of course you don't need any lectures on that score. Hope the meds can get it under control, soon. Sympathies. :bye:

Damn, not good news to hear at all.

Still the dr's know best about this and as they say it is only for a year.

Good on you for keeping the bike. Store her well.

Ask around, that if she is gonna be stored for a year, that maybe she should be lifted up from standing on both wheels to protect the wheels/tyres etc.
Yet still be able to turn her over every so often.

You may have to empty the tank of any fuel every so often since she will be sitting for a year.

And you will still be partaking on KB and coming in with some great advise etc.

Thanks all.

Bugger that I didn't have the 12 months through winter and then back in Summer.

Decided I think the ZX-10 needs a good spruce up.
How do you reckon it would look in the blue ZX-14 colour-scheme ?

SELL IT NOW AND BUY A CRASHED 04 ZX10 OR GIXXER1000 AND SPEND 12 MONTHS DOING IT UP

Wait till Colapop reads this, he will have a great idea on what can be done about the ZX-10 for the next 12 months.........:shifty:
Not good news nude dude but, better this way than to find out on the road somewhere, good luck mate.

Years ago I knew someone who had siezures (not sure why) anyway, his mate's bike had a pack rack and he used to - i shit u not - put a rope around him on the pack rack and get him to keep his hand on his shoulder. The theory was that if he was seizing then his hand would slip off the shoulder and the rope would hold him while they stopped.

He had a ball of course, and as far as I know, didn't have a siezure whie riding.

Funny thing is, I told the Doc that I am at my best when riding, never had even an inclination as I'm at my most relaxed, but she didn't buy it....

Might pay to get a battery tender for the long wait, and a front and rear track/pit/paddock stand to un-load the tyres.
Good on ya for taking the Doc's orders, something I’ve never done and relay should have!

Gidday,

sorry to hear about the 12 months layoff.

As someone suffering from a "chronic" condition who lives in fear of the doctor invalidating my licence at any time, I feel for you.

Keep on the site, your opinions are worth listening to, get yourself right, and come back refreshed and more in control.

Maybe things like this happen for a reason that you just don't get right now.

You keep that Kwaka polished, you hear? Don't let the fuel injectors gum up, or the tyres perish.

We could all take turns keeping it warm for you, if you like...

Well apparently it can be reviewed at 6 months but my Neurologist is a 60 year old (I think) lady who takes no sh1t and lives by the book....don't like my chances....

a cheap xr250 or something and go on some organised trail rides, dont need a license for them and if you go with a mate clued up on your condition?

Mate you know what my thoughts are from the conversations we've had.

Don't despair the licence forfeit will come & go, and discretion is the better part of valour. its better to subdue the beast than have it bite you in the ass when least wanted.

Thoughts are with you & bridgy
One small crack in the path on a long journey ain't going to stop you

What a bummer, last year I was passing out unexpectedly and there was some thought it might have been epilepsy but they ruled that out just kept taking my license off me for 6 weeks after each episode. Hasn't happened for a while, I'm hoping that it was connected to my dicky ticker and after its recent rebore the problem will disappear:rockon:

Oh yeah - HOWDY guys!!

No-one has ever said anything about wanting a free bike (it'd be nice, but not likely) - Bike sitting on the other hand, I've never had a problem offering to help people. I like to help out wherever I can.:blip:

Jesus, Chris that aint good mate, but as usual your attitude is great about it. We could all stand to learn a lesson from you there.

As far as a project goes... how about we sort something out - I'll tell ya what;
I'll look after the ZX for ya (free of charge) and you can rebuild a wrecked bike that I'll <strike>buy</strike> aquire for you. Now ya can't past a deal like that!

Did think about trail riding, like an XR or something, but think the Neuro lady might get upset about that too.
I think track-racing will probably be the same.

Ah well, time to think if I will keep the '10 or do it up and sell it and get something different.

By the sounds of things its only 12 months. I know it will seem like forever right now but once you have it under control Im sure you will be back on da road! That will be a good day.
All the best

Cheers Madmal.

Col,..The beast needs a little work at present, RHS forkseal and new front tyre as well as a little carb balancing to cure the rough down low running. I'll get that sorted and be in touch if you want to borrow it.

Sorry to hear the news, hope all goes well.
Re the bike -imho its probably better to sell it while its in good nick and save for something better (or same again if you like of course) Bikes tend to deterioate if left sitting for long periods, often depite the best efforts and intentions. And it will be another year older. Having the money in the bank will give you lots of options.

That's a real bummer mate. You'll just have to get the ZX restored and start it up in the weekends.

Any idea of the long term prognosis? (Now that's a big word).

Well, I have to have another MRI and EEG so they can find the cause of the recent seizures and then stabilise them.
Sort of like looking for a pin in a haystack.

Damn that's a really tough call to feel able to ride but not be allowed too. Don't know if would have the will power. Sorry to hear and hope your health comes right as quickly as poss.
I'm with Sels that for a year you might want to sell the bike now. In a year there will be all sorts of new models and near new goodies to pick from.
Also you had better consider what if the unthinkable happens in a year - and we all hope not, that the Doc extends the ban. Then you would suffer the double blow of losing a year's use AND a year's depreciatíon before putting it on the market.

I am now seriously contemplating doing up the '10 and selling her while she's still worth something and going fine.

12 months will go quick (I hope) and the household is not totally bikeless with the Missus still riding her VT.
