Thats it, they are a total bunch of tossers..I havent met such a bunch of lieing , useless and f*cking stupid pricks in my whole life...Apart from the Inland Revenue in the UK.

The long and short of it is, for over a month I have told these clowns that my ADSL line at the exchange is fooked and they need to switch me onto another port (as I keep losing my connection)...BUT did the listen did they f*ck.. Finally they switched me over on Monday this week, BUT Slingshot the silly pricks didnt change my settings there end so this meant i was out of action for 4 days solid (again!!)

The engineer, who is a contractor and a clever South African yelled at them again and got them to sort it, plus he dropped tools and popped to my house to make sure it was A ok.

Slingshot have spent a whole month blaming Telecom and vise versa not taking responsibility...When you try and call them back you have to go through the damn automated process as they DONT have DDI numbers....BUT guess what ????? I now have 'em..So if anyone else has a problem with Technical Support @ Slingshot here's the DDI numbers for 2 managers at Tech Support :blip:

Aaron Smith - 09 915 2361
Tristan Dean - 09 915 2360

I have posted this as over the past week I have spent 3 hours on the phone to them and the whole month in total probably about 14 hours worth of calls.

Good work mate. I have never had a problem with slingshot but there are always good and bad stories

It is less incompetant to blame someone else to cover your (their) own failings - and it makes them feel like they've accomplished something.

Some help-desk tricks my mate came up with:

1. Ring on your cellphone. They dont like paying for it and answer your calls first.
2. Ring business cust service lines as business customers generate more revenue.

These are unconfirmed but seem lkely to work.

This is the 3rd time in about as many weeks where I have heard someone blame Telecom for a problem they are having with another ISP.

I work for Telecom and in the other 2 cases I did a little digging around and found out it had nothing to do with Telecom at all... In both cases it was the other ISP that had fucked up and they blamed Telecom. who knew nothing about it...

Go figure

I hate the whole long process it takes to do anything...Everything has to be diverted to another person, or you have the wrong helpdesk... :bash:

Yeh right...

Let me get this stright, if you don't have tolls with them you have to pay more, and then you get less download allowance anyways... sounds like a jack to me.

so go with tolls? Cheaper phone and internet.

I was lucky enough to sign up with them before the 3.5 mbps came in so i get slightly less speed but more bandwidth.

We live in the country and every time it rains, water gets into the cable boxes and we often lose our landline (and therefore our internet connection - which sure as hell ain't with Telecom!). Telecom seem to prefer sending the lineman out on a regular basis to temporarily fix the problem than doing anything about it and I'm getting fed up with being unable to work for days on end every few months.

I'd keep quiet if I worked for Telecom, from my dealings with them, they are a useless bunch of pricks and some of their call centre staff need a boot up the bum. We were told by one that the fault would be fixed by 2pm but when I rang on my cellphone at 2.30pm and asked her to check what was going on, she said faults were usually fixed by 4.30pm and I would have to wait until then. Of course when I rang back at 4.35pm I was told the fault had been fixed at 2pm and this must be a new fault and gee, we're sorry, but it's too late to send anyone out today so you'll have to wait until tomorrow afternoon before we can take a look at it.

In this case, big profit equals very poor service. And Telecom seems to have taken the art of blame shifting to new levels. We put up with a crackling line for over a year because we were told it was due to electric fences in the vicinity. When they sent a lineman with a few clues out to repair an unrelated fault, he said it was caused by being on the modern version of a party line and we should complain. We did, and now our line is clear.

No company in this country is perfect and never gets everything right the first time.

The work you are talking about is done by a contractor, but I don't hear you slagging off them. It is their job to correctly diagnose faults like this and when they get it wrong, Telecom gets the blame with no mention of the contract company who do the work.

I'm glad you got it sorted :)

Ixion

Hang on, who contracted the contractor? I pay my bill to Telecom, any problems are their responsibility. If they want to contract out the work, that's fine, but it's still their responsibility.

Just a quick note...

As employees of a company such as telecom we sign a document that says we won't enter into discussions about the company outside of our work hours...

For this fact I'd urge Mr. Alive here to consider what he types, exactly the reason why I never enter into these debates.

Lets face it. Its not a debate that Teleployees are going to win anyway...regardless of whether they are right or not.

Can you imagine Antagonist_A is going to say: 'yeah fair enough...I pay lots of money for a service that is bad every once in a while, but thats ok.'

Unlikely.

yep - this is exactly why i'm with XTRA.
i'm not telecom groupie, as i too have worked for them, but at least it's "one throat to choke" if there's a problem.
bugger watching two service providers finger-point while no-one fixes it.
