I am still in two minds weather I made the right choice between a zxr or cbr. But I am happy with the bike it goes well but is a little down on power for some reason tristans bike is quicker and when i hit 180 the needel wont go any further.
Its good to have another motobike again though.
Restricted, and also the fact that black makes my bike about 25% faster anyway. Everything black is faster than other colours.. duuurrr.
Go play with the speedo wire I showed you today man, It willbe connected to ecu or something go take it out. Or get a 400 speedo. Mabey your bike needs a tune, mine certainly don't up top end, worked out my indicated speed today $1.98 and .33 tiny mini cents in controlled conditions... needle stops at $1.90, rev's kept going to 17500.
Pricey huh?

you never showed me no wire man.
you never showed me no wire man.
Yeah mabey you didn't see or I might have showed brett anyway if you look down into where your rear speedo housing is there is a 3 or so collection of wire on the right bound up into tape after leaving the speedo. (This is from the direction of sitting on the bike), to the left of that (hard to see with screen still on) is what I think is the speedo 180k limiter wire, some modded bikes (saw one a few days ago in mt eden) have trick boxes plugged in the end made by 'beet' (who do alot of exhausts for 250's) probably containing a resistor to fool the computer/speed limiter etc that bike is going slower, you can probably just unplug it like mine is, it most certainly isn't restricted. SHould be a block on the end with 3 pins from memory, have a fiddle. Or else open the speedo and bend the contact strip or whatever it is that tells it it's at 180.
edit: these things are geared for roughly 204kmh true speed from memory (dyno sheet), won't see it though. Sigh

Yeap, it's restricted all right. You can buy a little black box that'll take away that problem however. If you just unplug it it'll restrict the RMP and make the problem worse...

Ohh... okay. Mabey that applies for the later model zxr's (93 onwards) I know for a fact that 91 and 92 (and earlier if the A models get there..)) are not restricted, mines just loose wire I havn't touched it. Try modding inside speedo if you can't get/don't want to pay for a box.

Alarm: Hey, do a post in the sports and tourer section in regards to the alarm.
Bugjuice and Postie installed my alarm on my ZXR, and Allun (from South Auck's) installed his own alarm. Post and see who can help you out, also see here if this helps any:

Where can I get this little black box you speak of?
I can install the alarm no problems its a real complicated alarm though, I just need a diagram of the loom.

Your bike seemed to run ok Texmo...you were keeping up with me fine weren't you? I think yours and my bike are still restricted, tuned for lower power, and hence Tristan was quicker on the straights...not sure tho.

Well my 91 C was very defiently restricted, and unpluging the wires resulted in a restricted techo range.
My bike came with the box (basicly it's a small sealed black box about the size of an indicator relay that lives behind your gages) , so I couldn't tell you where to get one (can't even remember who made it)...ok after a bit of searching (I kept thinking it was made by maxi something :) ) my box was made by M Max.
Wow... okay 91's too then, I think john had a play with his don't know if it was restricted though (92 C) he ended up chucking a 400 speedo on it.
After all that 'over speed' reading on the speedo it stretched the wire a bit, needle now jumps around 120-140 a bit eratticly...
Mabey time for a new one.
