Found myself a decent ZXR250C for just over 3k today and all was good. My helmet hiding the big smile on my face as I started the ride from Auckland back to Hamilton. Handles very well and is quite nippy but I was taking it easy due to the awesome weather the gods let loose and drenched everyone in, everyone except me in my wetweather gear, man that stuff is awesome.
With all the traffic around I decided to take the back roads past Huntly. Not sure how to describe the turnoff but its a righthander that immediately goes over that one way at a time bridge with the lights. I slowed right down early as I didnt want to slip on the painted median strip etc but as I was going around the front tire hit some mud I failed to see and went out from under me, the bike and I slid a couple of meters up to the verge. I managed to pick myself and the bike up quickly and found I didnt have a scratch or bruise on me, just some of the mud, my poor bike now has a bit of a scar on the right side but other than that is fine. A couple of friendly motorists had stopped to see if I was ok so I thanked them and we all went on our merry way. The rest of the journey was actually quite fun going through all the twisty bits and I had a good excuse for being late to work.
Not sure what the lesson here is other than to stay extra vigilant in nasty weather. Stay safe all. :innocent:

Ouch, glad your okay, Hope you enjoy the new bike. I have found a new road you might like just out of Hamilton, Its called Kainui Road. Its got lots of twisties :msn-wink: carefull of the width of the road in one place, its about the size of a 'one-way' road :scooter:

As soon as you took her out of the shop, you should have layed her down gently on grass to get rid of the new bike - ground magnetism jinx.

Hehe well it was second hand and the gorgeous girl that sold it to me mentioned she had a small crash on it once before so I was of the thinking it'd already been done :doobey:

...maybe it was me that needed to roll around on the ground first before I got on hehe.

New or used, I think all bikes are attracted to the ground on the first day of a new rider. Not that I ever dropped mine on the first day or anything :innocent:
