Well being a biker, my birthday yesterday had a fair chance of involving bikes somewhere.

1) Mrs Oakie asked what I wanted to do yesterday morning so I suggested we go and look at the bike shops on Manchester St. Great way to spend an hour or so. She has decided that she really likes the look of the shiny red $15,000 Moto Guzzi in Eric Woods. Damn!

2) My daughters gave me a copy of 'Great Escapes' a guide to motorcycle touring in NZ by Peter Mitchell. For those who don't know it ... it lists 46 one and two day bike trips within NZ. Mouth watering stuff, believe me. It also has lots of tips on touring and bike riding in general.

Happy birthday to me.... Now if only I could get my bike running sweetly again. It goes Ok but it's started stuttering a bit when it gets over about 5500 rpm

Brilliant! If I got it and gave it to her she couldn't make me take it back because that would just be rude. Now, where to find $15 thou?
