lamo...
that's freaky shit.. how does it know?
I've done it 6 times with random numbers, and only once did it not get it right (or may be that was me..)

I thought, after the first one, that I may have put my mouse cursor over the symbol (as you do) and tried again by not doing it. It still got it right. I dont get it.

That process always ends up with a number that's a mulitple of 9. 9 - 18 - 27 etc.
Have a look at the symbols for those numbers and they'll all be the same.
Used to do that trick in the pub with a new box of matches to win pints.

Only by game. On each single game those numbers will have the same symbol.
Try just flicking through without doing the test. Also note the number, regardless of the symbol when you do do the game.
Or do it on paper.....

but these shots at random, how would it pick those symbols? There's no formula for it..

I'm not sure what you mean. Every time you do that mathematic procedure you will end up with a number that is a mulitple of 9. Try it on paper.
That program just randomly selects a symbol at each new game and allocates it to all muliples of 9.

Ahhh... now I get it. Took me a moment to notice that all multiples of 9 have the same symbol. (I was concentrating so hard on my symbol).
But how do you do it with matches?

Ask your mate to buy a new box at the bar. Take a note of the average amount per box.
Get him to do that process by counting the matches, subtracting ect. You can generally guess with accuracy how many are left.
eg. box average = 52. 5+2 = 7. 52 - 7= 45. New box none used. Weight of box... So 45 left in the box. You can guess with pretty good accuracy. Once you've done it a few times you get used to it.

Buggy, look at the attachment.
I think it throws a single one in that's wrong just to throw you off now and then and to make you think it's not a simple, straight forward formula. This one has the different answer on 63.

yeah, but there's more than one symbol that's a possibility, hence the other screen shots..

Each time you play it, it uses a different symbol for the answer (there's only 9 possible answers and all 9 answers use the same symbol).
Try playing it 5 times in a row using the same number and see how it (almost) always gets it right.

It doesn't use the same symbol each time. It changes them. Use the same numbers 5 times in a row and it will get it right 5 times.
There are only 9 possible answers:
11 = 1+1 = 9
12 = 1+2 = 9
13 = 1+3 = 9
14 = 1+4 = 9
15 = 1+5 = 9
16 = 1+6 = 9
17 = 1+7 = 9
18 = 1+8 = 9
19 = 1+9 = 9
.....

thanx guys, but still confused.
i get that it all equals 9. I get that given enough times, it will pick the same one, and that they're all properties of 9.
but if you see the screen shots i posted, there's a different symbol on each screen shot, not the same symbol. I understand the theory of it all being something rooted to 9, but the symbols aren't..
and don't roll your eyes at me :bleh:

I didn't roll my eyes .......... I headbutted the desk.
It doesn't matter which symbol is used. What matters is there are only ever 9 answers. Each time you play it changes the symbol, but all 9 answers are still the same.

9, 18, 27 ..... = :nya:

ok, well my partner and i have just done this for the last 10 minutes, and did it a dozen times, and it got it every single time. I just don't get it. It couldn't be more random.. just couldn't.. tell ya what, you come round here, and you show me face to face.. cos it just doesn't make sense.. and yes, I know it's all a root of 9, but the symbols are just too random that it picks, and yet, it's fukin right every time..

Serrious man, dont admit to stuff like that!
[/end rant]
the symbol for all the multiple's of 9 are the same, 9, 18, 27, 36 etc are always the same symbol. The answer you have will always be a multiple of 9 and so the programme will always show the picture of what ever 9 is, have a look and see, the symbol will always be what number 9 is.....
If you dont get it after this, please turn off your computer, pack it into a box and take it back to the shop where you bought it from for the reason your too stupid to use it :nya:

go to page 1 of this thread, and look at my screen shots. have you done this 'test' more than once?
Do the thing 10 times properly, then come back and say it.
and for the record, I'm not blond, and my mac will never go back to the shop :bleh:

Buggy, when you do it, look at the number 9 and the multipules of 9. They have the same symbol. Mathematically, if you follow the said process of adding an subtracting those numbers, you will always get a number that is the multipule of 9.
See where Im going?

30th May 2006, 21:01
ok, now I get it. After careful study of the screen shots, the missing key info you lot forgot to bang on about (aside from it being devisable by 9), is the fact it swaps the background out each time so that the symbols for each time are the same as the answer.
