I just got back from having my BT39s fitted (ordered the tyres from cyclethreads) from AFC motorcycles in Palmy...

I have to say, I'm pretty damn impressed by their service after not being too happy around palmy...

seeing that I didn't have a way to get back without my bike, I waited around while the tyres are fitted and they scheduled it and made it super quick for me. The guys were super helpful and now I want a new lid!!!!! -

One question though, It was a shark s900 or something similar and it had one of the clip harness things (sortof like seatbelts???) I know that DD rings are much better design but damn I liked the helmet, do you think it's still worth buying the helmet with the clip things?

Oh and they bloody offered me a bloody test ride on the gsx250 they had there.... I'm like "ahhh you realise I came here with the L plate attached right?" - never been offered a test ride since I'm a "learner" anyway, so of course I had to take it for a ride... drooll.... I NEED A NEW BIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!

so, time to talk to my partner about getting a new bike...

Ok this has turned into a bit of a rant................

Anyhow, what I wanted to say was, - super friendly people there and very helpful! I would go back there anyday.

Clip types are fine as long as you remember to keep the strap adjustment right.

I was trying it on and as I was trying it on, it pinched my chin! - it was a bit imbarassing and put me off a little... It was bloody good price though (I think... it was 270 for black and white graphics one)....

I've got clip on mine... easy as mate, never had any problems with it.

A purely personal comment, and I do not intend it to extend to a wholesale deprecation of clip type helmets - but I would never again own one, since the only one I ever did own came undone and flew off when i did a spot of low level flying off-road. By the good graces of Helmet von Hornihumper I landed (more or less head first) in a soft bush (the tree variety - jeez), and suffered no more than scratches. But it could have been right nasty.

And yes, I dare say maybe I didnb't have it properly adjusted or something. But ---, I've never had any problems with the D ring type, adjusted or not.

Contrary to Ixion's experience I fell off wearing a clip type helmet and it stayed on. Me happy.

Have had a D ring helmet removed by a scrutineer at a bucket race meeting without undoing it, and I thought it was done up proper like. Good thing I had another helmet to use.
