Another absolutley stunning and beautiful machine once again from Ducati. Who wouldn't want one of these! The RR is scheduled to arrive in the market in July 2007, while from June 2nd 2006 it will be possible to reserve the bike through the official Ducati dealer network, with Ducati 999R owners receiving priority. To find out more about this, you can check out the Ducati website, the link for this is below.

That's one nice machine - am in two minds about the headlights though. So I guess Ducati are not as keen to push for a 1200cc twin for superbikes now?

Holy Crap, that is one motorcycle. Ducati have finally come out and done it again! Could this be the next 916??
Copied my NC30 they have! V4 power to the end!
BTW whats the go with the front forks??? Never seen that set up before, anyone care to explain.... Quasi... since your buying one?
I am pretty sure its a remote resivour of sorts like you get with high end rear suspension units. Or its something to do with the fact that you could prob adjust everything on them.

The way one of those articles said it might pay to get yourself a 999r first.
Kinda like you have to own a few ferraris before they would let you get a Enzo

Decisions, decisions, do I get one bike that does one thing better than any other, or do I get 5 that do everything?

I think they're torque arms. The brakes are mounted on them so that any torque produced by the brakes is taken by them instead of the main forks, simplifying the job the forks have to do.

Um if you're refeering to the gold cylinders in behind the forks no, not torque arms, thats where the gas charge for the forks are stored, like a remote res on a rear shock, word has very tricky to set up right, but once you got em good, holy fuck.
And holy fuck to that bike, thats quite a machine, i dont think a bike has rolled off the production line quite like that ever before, gorgeus looking machine, would be curious to a price, $77,000 seems low to me, and production numbers, wonder how many they'll make, but fuck me thats one hell of a motorbike, balls to ducati for bringing it out, maybe the Japs can learn a thing or two and bring us a GSXR1000SP/RR model, mmmmmmmmmm

Ah righto. Seen some on a bike that reduced the torque on the forks so they didn't deform as much etc. But gas charged forks pretty bloody trick.

trick alrite, pretty much standard issue on all the ohlins shod GP bikes (250s and 125's as well), some SBK teams are running em, think Showa have something simalar to the ohlins setup. Firts time i've seen them on a road bike, feels funny calling the Desmo RR a road bike though.

Apparently the domestic market ios the biggest for the Monster range.
Been waiting for ducati to set the lead and bring out a bike that they can get back that whole 'ducatis are the fasterest' etc lable. Alot of people know someone who has a ducati, and to the general public they are the fastest (even though they might not be). Hopefully this bike can be the one to do that again.
Sweet! Looks tasty too, something to rival the f4 1000
edit: okay yes I JUST CREAMED MY PANTS AND TRIED TO NOT GET TOO EXCITED. One day.... sigh.

Very sweet bike. But if they bring out the 1200 they are talking about for the road that may be the more realistic one (financially) to go for. Still a lot though.

Hardly worth comparing when you consider ownership costs and availability. Love the bike, don't get me wrong. But to say it's the best or fastest is hardly fair.

It absolutely has to be the fastest, best handling bike out there... otherwise, at that price, it's an embarrasment.

Ownership costs... I was very taken with the Ducatis until I was talking to a mechanic mate servicing an ST3, (I think), and found out what was involved in replacing the belts! Obviously the old two valve motors are simpler, but the cost and time for the service left me:gob:

I wouldn't bother Finn. Probably about the same performance level as a standard Repsol Blade. This is just Ducati's attempt to catch up!
In fact it looks like they copied the styling from that 80s Honda NSR750 special thingy that cost about $100,000 back then. Some things never change i.e. the price.
.....
Now calm down all you Duck fans that was a pisstake. (it really looks like a 1970s effort)

I'm gonna buy two. One with the number 15 on it. And get the other in some other colour. I really think the red makes it look porky. Black would make it look so much slimmer. My daughter thinks Pink would look good but I'm not so sure.
Whats a 999r? and are they edible.

There are some bikes that I just can not help but associate with bullets. I have no idea why I do this it just happens.
The MV Augsta F4-1000s has always reminded me of .222cal.
The Ducati Desmosedici.........a 30-06cal.
The Ducati lacks the streamlined sophistication of the MV but man does it look like it's got some punch.................you bet...........and not only in the wallet.
Way out of my legue....................even with the money.
