Titanium toe sliders

I have Sidi boots and the toes sliders on both sides have worn right through, now I'm working on the sole of the boot and really need to get some replacements. I don't want to have to keep buying these so I've been looking at Titanium:

The only problem I can foresee is the sparks they produce setting something on the road side on fire - has anyone used these? or does anyone know where they can be purchased locally? I'd welcome any advice or opinions you have on the matter.

I had titanium toe sliders on my Stylemaartin boots. They were fine, didn't burn down any schools or old peoples homes as I rode past... Last really well too.

At this risk of offending you because I don't know you or your riding at all (and I apologise in advance if I do offend you) - are your boots wearing through because you're a gun rider or because your feet could be positioned better?

Good point there, I think there is a massive thread going here somewhere about feet positioning.

Certainly the first times I touched my boot down it was because my foot was in an incorrect position. You want your toes on peg on the inside peg when cornering. I daresay that not alot of people would wear through boot toes riding on the road if they position foot correctly.

Yip, I'm hearin ya - I've had a look at the thread and definitely think my foot positioning is lacking somewhat. I'm trying to break my bad habits but as I've had them for so long I'm not sure if I'll be able to adjust before my boots are destroyed - must try harder!

Are your toe sliders replaceable? Mine (admittedly Forma brand) just screw on, so it's $15 everytime I root a pair. Beats $300 for boots!

I very infrequently touched down on the road. A few times at the track. Most of my toe slider damage was done on mini-motos where you've got impossibly small pegs that you're pretty much scraping the daylights out of at every corner. And if you cock up you're only got a metre or three to slide before you stop ;)

I know what you mean, I've started a couple of brush fires with the overheated shreds of tyre flying off.

The first year i raced at Wangas i was told to take my sprking knee sliders off, cause of the hay.
Fair enough. Thats cool.
But on the road, i doubt you'd have a problem.
