Hey Guys & Gals,
I have a friend who is looking at buying a modified bike. My friend has a couple of reservations though, so they have asked me to ask if anyone knows the answers to the following questions:

1) When a bike is modified does it have to be re-registered under the year of modification? eg. Was a 1999 bike, modified in 2001 so is then re-registered as a 2001 bike.

2) And would there be any reason that a bike would have the year changed? What I mean is a bike that is definitely a 1999 shows on the ownership papers as 2001.

Could you please PM rather than posting here with your answers.

Thanks in advance. :2thumbsup

1) only reason deregisted is it was writen off? or was it a race bike and never registed until 01? or did they let the reg lapes sometime and then had to reregisted it but you have to not pay rego for 2 years before that happens.

2)could be a 99 bike not sould until 01?

I believe you wanna stay away from it, unless you know it was a 99 bike but no sold until 01

There is no reason for changing the year as far as I know. The year is manufacture year, and unless someone gave the wrong frame numbers when it was re-rego'd or first rego'd, they should get the right year. They look up frame no if there is no plate. Sounds dodgy unless it was a typo....
