I know this is not the correct thread, but i figure more people check this forum than any of the others.

I have tried a lot of motorcycle shops in aucks, and none have been able to supply me with a crank case gasket (not the clutch side, the left hand side when on the bike...the magneto Sp?? side.

Does anyone here for some or other reason have this type of gasket they are not using that i could buy off them?

Selby at Mt Eden motorcycles is trying to find me one, but i thought i would try here.

If you have one, or know someone with one, please let me know. It seems that if there is not one in nz i will have to wait 3 weeks to get one into the country.

If its an "ordinary" gasket, the papery type, then you can get a sheet of gasket paper from Ripco or whoever and make your own. and save $$$$$ to boot.

Couldnt you just use gasket goo? Its not keeping anything in under pressure being the Mag side and only really needs to keep the water out, oh wait for someone mechanical minded to ok this before rushing off to do

Try that red sillicone goop. If it's good enough for the $400k cooper climax engine at motat I mucked around with at one stage it's good enough for ya zxr ;)

Try city cycles too.. don't have a ph# for them but ricky would have spare parts and stuff like that galore. They have so many zxr parts. - That's Ricky Rockaaaaah from ex Mt Eden too.

If you do try the silicone gasket sealant stuff be careful because on some bikes (eg zzr250's) the gasket is required for clearance for the starter gears. If you just use silicone gasket stuff the gears won't move.
On other bikes (like the fzx250) silicone stuff alone is ok.
Just keep that in mind.
I'd be inclined to do what Ixion suggests and just get some gasket paper.

Yeah, either gasket paper and a little hammer (it's dead easy), or some Loctite Master Gasket.

Just watch a couple of old episodes of MacGyver.... you'll be surprised with what you can do with a piece of chewing gum :niceone:
