I know the history for this bike and it's pretty good order, do you reckon this is worth the $6kish I could probably get it for?

There is a bit more damage to that than "just dropped in the grass". You pay $6000 plus reg, wof, Re-vin (Not sure if you re-vin a dereg bike, but I know what I mean) and you are looking at $6500 to $6750. I suppose that it could be worth it for a 2003

looks more than a drop in grass to me, over all since it as on file it as been de-registered, thats some good $$ off it
they are what $10k to brand brand new, i wouldn't really wanna pay much more than 5500-6000 for it TOPS. due to fact that its as been technically 'writen off' by insurance company
Sniper i think the owner as already re vinned it and like,

It's recently been re-regsitered, and is mint apart from the damage shown - agreed about it being on hard grass tho! (poss on the Rimutaka's I think!!). I need to act quickly if I'm going for it, but there's probably a better buy around the corner...(and not sure if I like riding a written-off bike).
Thanks for the input

I got $8k for mine which was pristine and had done 5000km when I sold it last year.
i just paid $2800 for my 97 500e reg and woffed, its got a cupple of dents in tank and scratched pipe and will be putting after market mirrors on as well so my opinion is its a good buy for a 93........reliable as ever............

Resale will be a big issue on this bike.
The insurance co. wrote it off, but it only had superficial damage - yeah right!

If insurance paid out I gather it was technically a write-off for it to be de-registered and then the owner or whoevers selling it now brought it, fixed it up and has reregistered it. Guess its cheap enough compared to others as long as you dont mind the cosmetic damage. If you know its history and there is nothing else major that happened to it guess its OK.

*R1 madness* is a bike importer (KB member) I cannot vouch for any bikes he has imported and sold but he has told me that he can get a decent import in for about that money. It may be an idea to have a discussion with him - he may have options....?

You'll be able to get a straighter one for about the same price but not that low a milage.
Either way I wouldn't call it a bargan.
Whenever I've felt like I needed to make a quick decision I've often regretted it.

know what ya mean. do check the bike over completely, and have it looked at, small hair line cracks in frame etc. to it being slightly twisted. but if your interested check it out, and find out from insurance companies think about re insuring a bike that has been written off? anyone know what they think about it?
and grass my ass. what astro turf?
or it fell on grass then what fell on the bike?
