Anyone heading over to the 'rapa saturday morning?
May as well have this as an alternative option to the open day at manfield. There will be no hot pit girls BUT theres no $80 admission fee either for your very own local rimutucka hill raceway, or limit to how many times you can go over.
I dont condone speeding, but im not your mum either so il see anyone whos interested at caltex at about 10ish, maybe later if its a bad frost

Unsure which I'll go to yet. Can't afford to go on the track so may be in for a ride, sounds bettr then watching I guess.
Uncle B and I are planning on practicing getting the knee down on the hill.
I've got rugby later in the arvo so we were thinking about 10am, heading up the hill. Will probably just hangout and drink the summit cafe dry of coffee between runs.

Just be carefull you dont take a leaf out of jimbos book and get everything else down as well dude
Havent been over the watertower road for a few months so might go as far as that. Everytime I ride the hill the trafic is a major buzzkill

Water Tower Road is covered in poo and clay from the Dam, but more importantly the shaded cuttings have a major covering of green slime. The bottom bit is still a hoot.

We'll probably be heading over for a quick spin late morning, so may see a few of you at the top or hooning past us!:bye:

Checked out the Water Tower Road again today. Covered in poos from start to finish. Very slippery. May be better tomorrow, but I got stuck in the midst of 3 mobs of cows on that road. I bumped into another 3 on the Castlepoint road before seeing a huge mob and turning around and going home.
There are major wheel eating potholes thanks to the recent frosts on the road to Wainuioru, the road that starts where you turn left on the other side of the Water tower road. They are all in the right hand wheel track, so keep your eyes open.

Yep, I'm going hilly in the morning, as described here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?p=642325&postcount=17). I thought 10.30 at Caltex, coz it's cold & I'm a lazy fat bastard.

I know the feeling. Just got home from a quick fang to Feathers :spudflip: and feel much the better for it. Some twat in a grey Mazda 6 wanted to kill me on my side of centre, but otherwise it was a truly religious experience.
Someone has built a new momument to a certain make of motorcycle at the summit carpark:innocent: . How long does concrete take to set at freezing point?

I've flagged the track since domestic duties call. I might be out at some stage, prob arvo-ish. Anyone who has a problem with my riding style, plate viewability, accessories or whatever else should consider themselves duly warned.

Good day of riding (headed up to Manfield briefly) - would've been real nice in the Rapa too I'm guessing!
RG100 - sorry didn't know it was you till we were about to leave Caltex (hadn't read this thread so didn't know we were meeting up), would've said hi otherwise.

Wasn't too bad in the 'rapa but some of the green slime was positively iridescent. Viridescent you could say.

Thats sweet.
Man it was a mint day playing on the takas though!!.
Only saw one Po Po Police man the whole day

Didn't get out until late arvo, but the takas were in fine form and for some reason the front wheel seemed especially light today over the bumps - unusual for me. Stopped off to talk to crazylittleshit on my 2nd lap and realised the scanner had gone for a walk off the tank. But talk about luck - what was shaping up to be an expensive outing turned all rosy again when I spied this little black thing with two suction cups sitting in the middle of the road on one of the 'rapa side corners... how it hadn't been run over I'll never know. And how I even saw it given that I wasn't looking as I was concentrating on other things... Phew...

Yeah not too bad for a witer fang in the rapa'. Lost track of rg and max somewhere along the way so went along the gladstone road with darkman and skel. Damp corners and moss though, needs a bit of sunlight and rain to clean most of em up.
Hill was a big let down, got stuck behind a caravan, numerous cars and a logging truck. Got past that, and lo and behold if there isnt a cop heading towards me in the oposite direction. Didnt stop to chat, and went straight home after seeing him heading up the hill. Had a a wheelie lesson from skel at the lights which i didnt know he could do-you'll have to go out for the next scared sheep squadron run I reckon :nono:

Bummer dude, when I went up the hill there wasnt too much traffic and the only cop I saw was when I was sitting at the summit having a ciggie on the way back home. Oh yeah one on the way back over the motorway... Was a fucken mint day to be out and about in Wellys, I had an awesome ride. Cant believe the Fush was closed! :(

The sneaky HP car in the new cop lay-by in the southbound lane near Belmont?? What a sucker he was, no better way to end a hoon over the Hill than to pass a radar-weilding cop with a quota to fill whilst riding 1km under the speed limit...:first:
An excellent day. The summit carpark could have been a KB rally at one stage.

Hell yeah. Anyone else notice that there were 3 KR's there at one stage, all different years quite funny how they've changed over the years!
HOw many times did Uncle Bruce ride past?!

dunno about Uncle B but i saw that silver gixxer go past at least 3-4 times!!

If I had known you were at the summit I would have stopped for a ciggy and a chat.
BUT.
I was having too much fun and was zenning in the zone. Didn't want to stop and lose the momentum.
Next time your out (should be around september) We'll chatch up :nya:

Yeah cheers for the ride Dark/Vas. That wheelie was a result of a quick takeoff when I was racing V from the lights. V didnt know about the race. Must have used more than half throttle.

Yes that was rather disappointing to see, came all the way from Palmy to go there. Got lost for a little while but Glenn found me. How was your ride over to Paikak Ben?? I found all the others back at the top of the hill.

The East-West road has been resealed through what is usually the worst of the moss. Definitely not to my lichen.
Yesterday over the hill was fantastic. We stopped for a while at the flood gates and took in the quiet, the reflections on the water, the autumn colours, the diving cormorants. Mrs H said rhetorically "Aren't we lucky to be able to do this?" Never a truer word...

I had to laugh when you guys got to the top and just kept going, I kinda thought you were having so much fun you just didn't want it to end.

So true, so true. That was the first time I had been over the takas, There was a huge grin on my face the whole way. I completely forgot about stopping at the top untill I was down the other side.

12th June 2006, 21:17
Yeah sorry I lost you guys, I didn't hear you say you were stopping at the top. Had a huge laugh going over the hill, gotta do it again.
Paekak was good - got stuck behind a skyline full of chicks who very kindly waved me passed, then tried to stick to me all the way up. Not a hope - I looked behind a couple of times and saw him sliding sideways round the odd corner, feeding it way too much, but I got clear ahead. Stopped at the top and the stopwatch said he was 1:30 behind me. Got a wave from the chicks and then had a quiet (read cop filled... since when are cops allowed to overtake in a passing lane at 120km/h?) trip back to palmy. A lovely day/weekend - 1200km's and well and truly the end of my back tire!
