I'm pleased you didn't get hurt or your bike damaged. The wind was getting stronger during the hour or so I was stopped on the Kaitoke hill this morning.

Was that you I saw at the Summit?

That was some of the worst wind I've EVER experienced on that road.

Woke up looked out the window, saw the wind outside and decided to leave the bike alone and go back to bed.

What's wrong with high winds , light rain and diesel spills ? (and first proper NZ ride for 14 months). Certainly not the best conditions today !

i'm sure i could smell diesel in places,i'm a diesel mechanic so possibly it was my helmet, but most of the corners on the way up had the rainbow pattern,
spoke to my mate later in the day,on his way back over, he reckons he was down to 5kmh in some places due to the wind,

You certainly earned that salute :)

I only had one really bad moment where I had the toe of my left boot on the ground and still ended up 2 ft on the wrong side of the road. Other than that it was bloody scary.

I was making my way home from Pirinoa today. From Pirinoa to Martinborough the wind was so bad on my little 250 I was getting thrown everywhere. Really scary, but I made it home ok.
