Harley Softail Speedo Problem

Has anyone heard about problems with Softails' blowing rear tail-lights and experiencing intermittent speedo malfaunction because of a faulty voltage regulator? :doobey: Just trying to separate urban-myth from good old-fashioned misinformation.
