Well that was a load of bollocks.... Not because the GSX-R got rated 5th!!!! But because most of the bikes arent eligable for Supersport racing...

Names aside, the Gix still got beaten...

who cares though, I'm sure the best rider will still win on their chosen steed. Bikes are cool like that (to a point)

Yeah i admit it got beaten :( only because of the numpties thinking the 749S was great... BUT see how close the GSX-R, CBR and R6 were in the percentage stakes!!! But then again, the newbies thought the CBR was great were the experienced track guys thought it wasnt so flash...

Yeah, it was real close...crazily so really.

I'm damn impressed to see the Triumph taking top spot on the track too.

Plenty of ways to make yourself feel better though, like:

-knowing that the lone Trumpy came 22nd or something similarly poor in the first round of the Brit Supersport champs (from the latest Superbike mag, if memory serves).

-buying yourself one and kicking some arse on it.

I haven't read the full article yet (being at work), did they use a control tyre? I teckon that half the reason the Trumpy has been winning so much is the fact that it's the only bike with really good OE tyres.

They used a control tyre on the track... I reckon the Trumpy is awesome... and well deserved...

The Trumphy won the Masterbike tests.
I think the 675 CC brings it mighty close to a 750, shouldnt really put it in the 600 class, mind you thats what they said about the 636 as well, in saying that 675cc is getting a little out there!!!
749cc kinda different being a twin but still shouldnt be in the 600 class either

anyway

Yep, the Trumpy is the shiz, but I still reckon that the others, especially the R6 and Gix, would be able to shine a bit more if they had the same class of rubber. Not saying that that's the only factor in its domination, but we all know that the rubber which meets the road is one of the most critical parts in the package.

Good on Triumph for putting decent OE rubber on for once though...and putting braided lines on standard...'bout time, saves the consumer the hassle and expense.

They used Pirelli Corsa's one day and Dunlop Qualifiers the next.

What surprised me is that the gix, cbr and zx were all level, but given the range of abilities of the riders maybe it isn't so surprising. Comments that seem to be coming through (in general not just from that test) like:

At the end of the day, though, it was easy to forget about the GSX-R. It's not that it does anything really wrong, it just doesn't have any performance areas that really stand out

kinda give the impression that it's doing a Honda - doing things so competantly it's almost bland. Shame I will probably never get to do my own comparison and see what they are right/wrong about!!

The trumpih is a triple brett, you realise this right?

600 4 cylinder
675 3 cylinder
750 2 cylinder

All the figures weighed up the triumph deserves to be there more than the ZX636R, it's nice to finally see that triumph have knocked the nail on the head with the triple combination lets hope it performs well on the rcae track internationally, cause as of late the triple concept has been good but no one has really made it work, Foggy FP1, Aprillia RS3, maybe BMW's new motogp bike will be the bizzo?

However is does seem odd to me that the FP1 is still a 900cc up against 1000cc 4 cylinder and 2 cylinder machines, cant work that out, steve martin puts in some amzing qualifiing preformances but so far cant carry it through to the race!

Holy Shit why I'm I selling my Honda for a K6.

I wondered how the R6 and the K6 would go since they bitched about the lack of midrange for the CBR in last years test. Funny how the CBR gets a better review and equal footing with the 636 than last year. Must be the extra 4 BHP over last years model (I know the engine is identical).

Thought the R6 would be King. That Trumpy must be an awesome piece of equipment.

Be interesting to see the Triumphs in 600SP this season.

Most of the bikes? Only 1 as far as I could see.

There'll be atleast 2 675's in next seasons nats over here.

I thought the 75cc kit was the best addition. :blip:

Wouldn't surprise me if the Jap bikes go 675cc.

Me too. Wont be long now before Kawasaki releases the goodies on the 2007 replacement for the 636. Just a hunch but something half way between 636cc and 675cc might be an interesting marketing ploy. I can't see how they can do much more to improve the current bike apart from a steering damper and maybe switch to a stubbie muffler for the upwardly fashion followers (like me). Supersizing the 600 gave them big sales last time so they must be tempted to try it again.
Think I'll wait and see what they offer. If it's only a small improvement I might go for a 675 next year.

Now having said that, I wouldn't be suprised if the 600s turn into 150kg 20000rpm 500s, and the 1000s turn into 155kg 800s. They'll aim for less weight, same power, and making Triumphs investment obsolete and irrelevant. If you can't beat em, ignore em!

Your thinking the same as me.
