B*st**d van driver!!
I was riding along on Courtney Place, toward the T'naki St junction, probably doing about 40, when white van, livence plate DAD74, stopped along the side of the road, decides to do a U-turn in front of me!!
It's quite interesting what goes on in your head in such a short time. "I'm not gonna be able to stop in time, so should I run into his side, proving it was his fault without question? Or should I brake as hard as I can and probably have a spill but not hit him, and so preserve my skull?"
I slammed on the brakes and predictably skidded out, fell over. Having anticipated it, I wasn't badly damaged, so proceeded over into a yelling match with said twat who said I was following too close, he indicated, it was my fault!
Anyway, it was clear that I was ok, so he came down and looked at bike with the only visible damage being the right front indicator. He then said,"Yup, should be a $40 part, I'm not paying for it, it should teach you for following close, seeya!" and buggered off.
I'm glad I got his rego, 'coz the cops have it now, and Motorad have the bike. Not the best day to pop into the hospital for them to have a look at my sore and slightly weirdly angled thumb, so I rang a doctor friend who happened to be at home 'coz... he was on strike! Got a look at thumb, taken to the cop shop and back home.
Trust NO ONE!!! They're all out to kill us!!

The guy's a dick. If he was stopped, how could you be following?
Hope it sorts itself out in your favour. If not we can get a bulk discount with this guy I know to sort out Hitcher's RAV4 driver and your white van man.
What a bastard, hope the cops get him. Glad you weren't badly hurt, but bloody hell, it shouldn't have happened in the first place - that bastard.

Not a very bright twat was he. He said you were following too close so he must have seen you but he still did a U turn. Bet he changes his story when the cops interview him.

Yeah, good thing is, it looked like a company van, so the company should be happy enough to pay and FIRE his arse!!

Jeepers glad your OK! You really ned to consider air horns...
In the last month I have had a kazillion cars change lanes or pull out in front of me, Ive had a taxi driver open his car door on me (I got my own back by riding into it and beding it slightly) and I had an older gentleman walk out in front of my bike, I hit him and broke his leg. It was actually really horrible, just found out today that he had been missing from his resthome for about an hour and he must have gone wandering. All he was wearing were his pyjamas. Its a really really sick horrible feeling to hit someone!
I sometimes wonder if i'll make it to 30! I'd even started riding around with my full beams on, until I read that thread about how dangerous it is. Now I ride around like EVERYONE is going to try and take me out, unfortunately I find I can be too over-cautious sometimes though!

You bedded the door of the taxi?? Ok... everyone's entitled to their preferences and I guess it's a valid lifestyle choice... but why??? a taxi door?? ;)

Think about it, no talking back, no commitment required and when you are done you just slam the door closed.. Perfect... Slightly uncomfortable of course but...

Mate I didnt choose the taxi THEY chose me by opening their door right in front of me, well literally on top of me. I was on a small residential st and couldnt avoid them unless I wanted a head on collision with the 4WD coming the other way.... Was quite funny though cause when I came to a stop I still had my air horns blaring and the driver was sitting in the drivers seat with me right there beside her looking right at her. I got the muffled "im sorry, so sorry" then once I saw the only damage was to her door and not my bike I continued on my way. I can laugh about it now.

My prepared course of action (should I ever get the chance to do it)...
Leave bike running on side stand
Open their door
Point out something over there... like "see that shop"
Remove their keys
Throw them "just far enough" under their vehicle
Ride away
Smile knowingly  be happy and carry on with my day

Glad to hear your ok, let the cops do their thing. And hopefully you can find out if its a work vehicle and make a complaint to the company.

There appears to be a lack of bikers keeping the caged monkeys in line down that way.
More mirrorectomys are needed to keep the bastards in line.....:blip:

That's ghey... had two close ones this morning myself. Van ran a red in front of me... but I could see they weren't going to stop, so I avoided them ok. LS400 Lexus (early one) pulled out from a side street... but it's in a flash part of town, and I've noticed that all those inbred fuckers can't drive for peanuts (especially at this particular intersection), so I avoided an off there too. Bit concerned about the day when I'm not so on to it though :(

Sorry to hear , mate, glad 'ywas nothing major.
And yes, they ARE all out to get you.
Had to have a "little talk" with some bint in a grey cage thingy this morning , who decided that a mere honking great white BMW could happily coexist in the same same as her cage. Indicators ? Mirrors ? Head check ? What they ? (Actually she didn't have a clue what a head check was, i asked her. Don't they check that in the licence test? ) .Sigh. At least she was apologetic. So I restricted myself to education rather than larning. How can you NOT see something the size of von Klunken?

I have managed to hit a kid who cycled out in front of me. Sick noise when the front wheel collected with his leg.
Glad to hear you are still alive and kicking bend-it. You know what you should do with the kicking part.......

Glad to hear you're ok there Bend-it!
I'm always amazed at how un-apologetic so many people are!! Geeze, it gets up my nose! If I smacked into someone or worse (god, let it never happen!) caused someone to ass off their bike, I'm pretty sure I would immediately be trying to help them and be ready to cop the blame as well as feel like complete shite for like hours!:blip:
But seriously, where do some people get off. I hope this guys gets his ass kicked severely by his boss and goes to hell.

Must be the day for it, I had a late model commodore (rental) decide that he could share the same lane as me. Luckily I know all cagers are out to get me, especially 'professional' drivers, rentals, and the, oh fuck it, especially all of them.

my only off....my cell phone was not in my jacket, so when i lay down on the footpath, i let those around me take over. i think they did call 111 for ambos, and then cops come along naturally...hell, i even got a fire engine, lmfao. had my phone been on me...i dont know whether i would have used it or not. i didnt have any other thought that get off the road and sit down.
any off bad enough to require a cop would likely also need an ambo, even just for a check over if you arent badly hurt. 111 is there, so i wouldnt feel concerned about using it for an ambo/fire engine/cops. [anything other than a prank call]
