Isn't Taupo WAY too short to be used for international racing?

I think Taupo is only 1.5 kms? Which is about 2kms too small! I'm using Donington in the UK as a basis for this - Donington had to add another half-mile (800 metres) to the track length or it was going to lose it's international status - hence the silly little bit that ruins the flow of the track.

Donington is just over 4kms long.

Or is part of the investment in the circuit going to be to extend the circuit length?

Bob, Taupo has been extended.

I haven't seen the full circuit but I think some KB'ers have.

Anyone like to comment? Is it any good?

See here for details.

Hey Bartman,
Taupo is great. Seems pretty technical and it will be excellent once they sort out some ugly transitions and get some facilities set up.:doobey: Pretty hard to get a good look at it from where you are.

Need to check my facts but my understanding is that an agreement in principle (which legally probably means diddly squat) has been signed re MotoGP. This appears to be dependent on some changes being made to the full circuit which sholud make the old part a bit quicker than at present and improve the transition between the two circuits. I believe that the $2 million the gubbermint is stumping up is at least partially dependent on securing either MotoGP or a similar international event.
Will see what I can find out.
