K&N Air Filters

I tried searching on KB and with Google but couldn't find the info I was after.

I'd like to get one of these air filters for my gixxer after seeing the state of my current air filter this afternoon. Can someone please tell me where I can buy one of these in the Auckland region and roughly how much they go for?

So what did your filter look like?....dirty? An so you want a K&N so it doesn't get dirty? That dirt has to go somewhere,and on the filter is better in my books than inside the engine.

DaveGet an OEM filter. Filters the crap out better than after market items. Beleive it or not.......................................:gob:

Well the air filter is pretty much just a white stocking that has been pulled tight over some wire mesh - looks like a home job to me. Thought that I might as well go for a high quality aftermarket air filter.

yes oem filters are good run one my self :yes: k&n are good but high priced when you can get one that is just as good if not better

K and N are great filters mate try coleman suzuki they are good to deal with

I've taken my air filter out. The increase in HP is well worth the occassional re-build.

Might be okay for fuel injected bikes but my carbs don't like bugs or gravel, so my mechanic tells me.

Why do you want a K&N filter?? Think carefully. HP gain? No need to replace?

The reason that they usually have a higher air flow is because they don't stop as much dirt etc, ie air can flow through faster. However, on some of the more modern bikes (latest gixxers say) the aftermarket options offer no gains.

Now, I do have a K&N in mine (came with it), but apparently, the best option for power is either no filter, or the stock, but modified.

Aftermarkets are cleanable, non-replacement, but you can get cleaning kits for stock ones I think.

stock suzuki filters are better,
also putting a k&n and bmc you will lose some of the induction growl of the bike.

one more vote here for the stocker. if you have to have a k&n, maybe check out e-bay?, they're cheap to ship!

if its already mangled/home done just buy some filter foam and make your own, about ten bucks or so much cheaper than anything else and do a fine job!

We sell K&N at AMPS, but I use the stock filter.
I'm cheap.
