No you will be on Highway one with the said Homo's. I think ther leaving at 9:30
What he said mark. see you there ben, we should have heaps of time to get there if we leave at 7:30 or 8

justsomeguy
20th June 2006, 18:31
It seems as though the majority want to head down 22.

Even if we leave at 8 we should be able to make it down by 9:30.

However, I would recommend that those trying 22 for the 1st time leave it for the return journey home and choose SH1 for the morning ride.

By the way please fuel up and go to the toilet, etc at the Autobahn meeting point, I'd like to ride non stop to our fuel-up point in Hamilton.

Zapf
20th June 2006, 19:00
I'll be heading down the boring SH1 and thinking of taking the left just past the bridge going into Cambridge. Gets a little less boring from there.

No 22 for me as I think I'll still be half asleep.

JSG - I would like to disagree with you... as by the time they have all ridden all day there ... had a feed etc etc... and then riding back home, those that have not ridden 22 before, may be very tired and they could make the odd mistake as 22 is very windy.

But then it does depend on each indivual rider.

Even when I do 22 one way I get very tired as one has to really concentrate on those roads. I have riden 22 down and back up SH1 after having a decent feed in Hamilton.

I know what you're saying Crashe.

However the ride down to meet Quasi will not be slow. We have to be in Hamilton at a certain point and can't wait too long at intersections.

On the way back the pace will most likely be more cruisy as riders will be tired, also we will have time to wait for others at intersections for as long as is needed.

Probly won't do 22 on the way back either... will be running out of light I think.

Usually a good way is not 22 but just stay to the west side of the river.... I'll show you then :)

anyway... may I say it again. IT LOOKS TO BE A LONG DAY!

Well my advise for what its worth, you should all come down SH1, reason, 22 on a either wet or frosty morning wont be cool, and it will take you about two hours and on top of that you still have 6 hours in the saddle to go once you get into Hamilton.

go main drag and let the day warm up, you will get ya chance at some twisties later.

I think that if youre lookin at goin through Cambridge you could be on your own as im sure the ride is more likely to be headin TeAwamutu ways.....but I have been wrong once b4

Hey let the heroes do what they want.

I'll be taking SH1 myself.

For me the point of this jafa ride is only to meet your group - after that the ride begins. Therefore I'll be taking the simplest and quickest route to meet you.

I've done 22 at night, it's a fun ride.:first:

We don't need to go at mach 10. I'll happily lead the way if you want.

We can always take SH1 if there's blinding rain.

It's a fine line between being a smarty dick and just a dick ...... everyone there and back in one piece is the plan.

Travel time in a cage from Hamilton to New Plymouth is 2 3/4 hrs comfortable. Awakino is 45 mins before New Plymouth so 'Riding' time is a max of 2 hours each way from Hams. We do Auckland airport to New Plym is 4 hours regular in a cage ..... so it's not as far as you think Jafa's.

if the weather is right... anyone keen to make it a weekend?

Down to NP, and around west cape if weather is ok. Then across to Napier and back via the Taupo / Napier highway...

We'll stay overnight somewhere...

Will avoide the snow and frost like plage, but if the weather fines up then... why not?

If we pass by Stratford, then we can go buy something from the local possom fur factory

Right guys just a bit of a reminder to be ready to leave around 8 am from the Autobahn all fueled up and with any bathroom breaks finished.

The (destination) Harvery Norman Meet up point is just to our right just before we enter Hamilton city.

We will be passing that point and riding a bit up the road to a petrol stop (I think it's BP) and then riding back to meet the crew after refuelling - well I have a 180-200km range so I for one will be going to the pump. You guys with more economical bikes should decide for yourself.

I believe we should be able to see them as we approach the area from the motorway itself.

See you'll there :ride:

As you approach Hamilton on the main road heading in from the north, ie out of Ngaruawhahia towards hamilton, you will go through one roundabout, at the next roundabout on your right you will see Harvey Norman turn right at this round about, then first right, thats where we meet up.
If you need gas go straight through the last roundabout and you will see SHELL on your left and a Mcdonalds fill up here, if your brand anal go further up the road and there is BP and Caltex and another SHELL.
Saturday am they have an awesome blonde chick giving BJ's out the back of BP apparently, I wouldnt know never been there, but thats the rumor.

oh and for all the "too long" a nameless soul was once asked at a trackday how long it took to get to Ngrawhaia by an R6 pilot, a while later said nameless soul walks back up to r6 and says
NL:"46 ."
R6: "huh?"
NL: "46 minutes."
R6: "huh?"
NL: "you asked how long to Ngarawahia......I just went and found out."
