A thread the other day about patriotism and supporting New Zealand made etc got me thinking. The Major representation that the rest of the world sees New Zealand through is our rugby team the All Blacks, who front up wearing the tradtional Black jerseys with the silver fern.

Now the Australian Team fronts up for the opposing side and puts there hands on their chests for their national album above 3 kiwis sitting proudly there on their chests. Whilst our team has three wanky little stripes!

Why is one of our national icons (CCC) worn by nearly every other nation except our own?!

I think its about time that the AB's returned to the CCC gear and showed a little bit of the patriotism that representing the country in sport is about.

Thats all good and nice and cuddly and fluffly, BUT, in the real world, money talks, and the 3 stripes talked loudest.
CCC isnt necessarily representative of NZ anyway. Maybe the Warehouse could make the AB's some shirts to wear, or Karen Walker to knock together a sporty number.

I noticed that too and pointed it out to Sam...

"Hey how come they have kiwi's on their shirts?"

She didn't answer me... this clears it up... thanks

It's always fun to let the Aussies have a taste of Kiwi.

It's all about the cash brudda.

All Blacks get some serious ping for wearing the stripes. The 3C kiwis can't compete. And patriotism doesn't count for jack when the jackpot's flashing and you've got high paid rugby stars to pay (and world cup hostings to prepare for).........

I think the AB's should wear nice sweaters knitted out of finest New Zealand merino.

And gum boots.

A former flattie told me they were in fact godwits. If they are kiwi, they are pretty horizontal kiwi!

But I agree with your sentiments. It would be nice if patriotism talked louder than $$...seems unlikely in a world of professional sport.

I don't think it is CCC, but in fact 3 birds....

Professional sport, now there is a contradiction in terms!!
Rugby players are simply highly paid kindergarten undergraduates.
And last I heard Canterbury weren't manufacturing all of their own gear any more either.
What up with that?
Sport alone can't breed national pride.
(unless it's motorcycling, stick it to the masses!!)

Sad but i think national pride is long gone, sure theres the odd moment when the All Blacks win/lose or another Kiwi does well on the world stage but drive down the main st of even the smallest Kiwi town and see the latest generation of teenagers and really you just have to shake your head...a guy i work with had his bike run over when parked on the street by a teenager in his fathers 4wd on a dare, this crap just wouldnt have happened not that long ago.

The answer to that question is that New Zealand is now owned by every other country except our own.

How can you instill national pride in a team made up of coconuts?

Define what kiwi looks like, a New Zealander, go on I think you would find it quite hard.

Hayman leading the haka, big scottish dude, kiwi.

Tito, worlds whiteist ginger maori, kiwi.

Collins, brick shit house on legs, kiwi.

Carter, poof, kiwi.

It took me until I was 19 to see the kiwis in the logo...I honestly just thought it was three 'C's in a cool font.

I think we should turn this argument around though. Maybe it's not the the kiwis should be wearing CCC but that it's awesome that a NZ company has managed to do the kit of so many other international teams.

Money speaks...and CCC is getting the money. Good on 'em.

Once you make a sport professional (ie all about money, dont ever kid yerselves otherwise) how can there ever be room for national pride etc?
Back in the old days, things were different !!!
